AboutMelodic punk rock band from Chicago, USA, formed in 1993. In 1994, the band signed to Fat Wreck Chords, then abruptly broke up while on a North American tour in 1996. In 1998, guitarist Dan Wleklinski & vocalist Denis Buckley wanted to continue with the band, and added Joe Principe (bass) & John Carroll (drums). Together, this lineup released Back On The Streets in 1998 before again disbanding. In October of 2009, 88 Fingers Louie played a reunion show at Chicago's annual Riot Fest. The lineup featured founding members Wleklinski and Buckley with a different supporting lineup than previous recordings. After a few years of playing primarily festivals across the globe, the band announced the release of Thank You For Being a Friend in summer of 2017 on Bird Attack Records, which was their first studio-recorded output in nearly 20 years.

I know exactly what you are thinking. You're asking yourself, "I thought those 88 guys said they were back together for good; what the hell happened?" Unfortunately when I stated that we were back together for good, I didn't realize that not all of us actually meant it. Once again, another lie that I believed. Wait let me rephrase that; another lie that we believed.

I'm not going to start complaining about all of the things that went wrong, or all of the things that should've happened if we all envisioned the same goals. I, for one, have very fond memories of all of the times we enjoyed in 88 FINGERS LOUIE. And even though it was a harsh and hostile end, I still wouldn't give up any of it.

We couldn't just give up our love of music and pack it up. We decided to carry on, and have formed a melodic hardcore band called RISE AGAINST. Joe is still playing bass, and I'm still on guitar. A great Chicago hardcore band called IN TRUTH broke up a few months back, and we were lucky to be joined by Tony, who is our new drummer and by Kevin who is our second guitar player. Our new singer Tim, was the front man of a well known Chicago emo rock band called BAXTER.

Until we get everything together, including a web site for RISE AGAINST, we will be posting any new info on the 88 FINGERS LOUIE web site. Joe and I will still be answering any questions at FVK88@aol.com (Joe) or FNGRSLOU88@aol.com (Dan
Ciao,
Mr. Dan Precision

Hi everybody-

Just a little letter to say thanks to everybody for supporting 88. As many of you know, the band has bitten the dust again, this time for good. Personal feelings aside, I know Dan and Joe will not rest until they have a new band together. Their dream has been to go all the way in 88 and I'm sorry, I couldn't give them what they wanted. I want to take time to wish John the best of luck in his future musical endeavors. He is a truly amazing drummer who will succeed in whatever he chooses to play, punk rock or any other style of music.

My reason for leaving 88 was simple - I missed having a life outside of the band. My loved ones are the most important thing to me. A few weeks after coming home from the tour that never happened, I got together with some friends and within months we found ourselves playing some great shows. We're called "The Story So Far". To those expecting 88, don't. We're a bit more rock, and a lot more melodic. This is the band I've always wanted to be in - Musically and personally.

Love,
Denis
