Help me if you can
It's just that this is not the way I'm wired so could you please Help me understand why You give in to all these reckless dark desires, you're Lying to yourself again, suicidal imbecile Think about it, put it on a faultline What'll it take to get it through to you, precious? No one asks, why do you wanna throw it away like this Such a mess, I don't wanna watch you Disconnect and self-destruct one bullet at a time What's your rush now, everyone will have his day to die Medicated Drama queen Picture-perfect nonbelligerence Narcissistic Drama queen Craving fame and all this decadence Lying through your teeth again, suicidal imbecile Think about it, put it on a faultline What'll it take to get it through to you, precious? No one asks, why do you wanna throw it away like this Such a mess, I don't wanna watch you Disconnect and self-destruct one bullet at a time What's your rush now, everyone will have his day to die Lying to my face again, suicidal imbecile Think about it, put it on a faultline What'll it take to get it through to you, precious? No one asks, why do you wanna throw it away like this Such a mess, no one else, no one else Disconnect and self-destruct one bullet at a time What's your hurry, everyone will have his day to die If you choose to pull the trigger Should your drama prove sincere Do it somewhere far away from here |

But second of all OMG y is it that no one on this forum got the meaning of this song. I mean you dont even have to guess if u had bothered to listen to maynards commentary on the amotion dvd u would no. It's about the person (the outsider) who see's the suicidal person and basically treats it like a sprained ankle tells them to walk it off and has no idea what they're going through. He sings through that person therefore parodying them to hold them up for ridicule, he is NOT ragging on the people who are suicidal. Ah, I see now. That could be it. But then again, I still stand firm. If you are sincerely depressed about something serious (death, trauma, etc.) then by all means, I'm not going to have the disposition in the song. But most kids nowadays are stupid and lament over something that isn't even worth it (breakups, something isn't going their way, self-inflicted trouble) and that's when I get angry. I don't have sympathy for those people. |

2 posts | rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal this song is not about suicide, i listened to a commentary on the song given by Maynard himself and this song like all of the other songs on the thirteeth step album deals with addiction. the name of the album even hints at the meaning of the songs, since when overcoming addiction there is a twelve step program that the person overcoming addiction has to follow. this song is actually written from the point of view of a close friend of a person with an addiction and this friend does not understand why the person with the addiction is throwing their life away by giving in to their addiction. |

Should your drama prove sincere Do it somewhere far away from here I think that proves this isnt an anti suicide song. |

1 posts | rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal First of all i would like to agree this is a great song, the first i heard by them and it really struck a chord in me (maybe it was just the viedeo clip lol) But second of all OMG y is it that no one on this forum got the meaning of this song. The video clip presents this aswell as we see the outsider smashing things without regard. |

13 posts | rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal My friend studies Greek Mythology just kind of on the side, you know? and he told me the edmology of Narcissistic. It comes from a story about a guy named Narciss who was astonishingly handsome, and oh boy did he know it. What happens in the story is that Narciss dies of not eating or drinking because he caught his reflection in a clear pond one day and never left from that spot. He didn't eat because he would miss the reflection and he didn't drink from the pond because it would have caused ripples and thrown off the reflection. Isn't that SO cool? I love that word. haha it's not the only reason I like the song, but definitely UP TOP to APC for using that word. I wonder if they know the edmology?....hrm....well anyways now YOU DO. |

4 posts | its not anti-suicide or pro-suicide. its from the point of view of someone who doesn't understand why someone would want to kill themselves or is ignorant to the fact that some people are really depressed and aren't just seeking attention. but anyways it's still a good song (but not their best, their best is judith) |

775 posts | rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal BEST anti-suicide song EVER! and i totally agree with the lyrics, suicide=cowards way out. Maynard is a genius, no doubt about it. this song is one of the greatest APC songs. |

29 posts | rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal i agree with RabbitMage (did i get thar right). It seems he cant seem to get why people decide to threaten suicide to draw attention to themselves. I guess this hits a personal note with me, as i had a friend who did this for many years and it really got to me in the end. THis song almost seems to be written for her =p Just a note, narcissistic - infatuation/obession with one's self. What better way to get people to notice you than by playing the "poor me" act? |

5 posts | rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal Before reading the post by omaricondego, I kind of got a feeling from this song that the meaning was what he said it was. I mean, it's so angry and blunt. But I thought, 'oh I tend to misinterpret songs so I'm probably wrong'. But if he's indeed right, that's pretty cool. Aweseome song, at any rate. |

82 posts | I agree that the song is anti-suicidal(in a way). The thing I love about this song is how Maynard makes fun of suicidal people and basically calls them stupid for wanting to throw their life away. I love it because I feel the exact same way about them. I love APC...they've got to be my favorite band. I even got some of my friends to listen to them. |

3 posts | rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal In regards to what AstridSteel said about this song being suicide prevention.. I don't really agree with that. I consider this song to be Maynard venting about how stupid suicide is, how he doesn't understand why they'd do it, and how he hates how people always talk about suicide as if it's such a big deal ... but I don't think this song will really help stop depressed people from hanging themselves. If anything, it just makes the listener have less sympathy for the suicidals. Fantastic song. This and Judith are my favorites. |
