| Do you guys like like 13th Step better than Mer de Noms? At first I thought 13th Step didn't light a candle to Mer de Noms but after listening to it in their concert I'm definately digging both now. |

Who gives an eff if the song's mainstream or not?
Does it belittle Maynard and his band's songwriting ability to have a mass amount of people dig it?
I think not.
The song's about addiction.
Not necessarily addiction to drugs-- people can be fiends for lots of things.
It's about searching and longing and waiting for whatever it is you need, feeding the proverbial monkey on your back.

A beautiful song with universal meaning.

Yo this song is off the shit man APC rocks..not even in the same league as Dread Zeppelin but still good....DREAD ZEPPELIN ROCKS
Weak and powerless is amazing...awesome guitar riffs(very confusing to play tho) and the vocals are amazing, although the lyrics are a little fucked up..theyre still good

As it's already been pointed out, this song is obviously about addiction as it is indeed from Thirteenth Step, and Maynard's explanation of it on the APC DVD is pretty awesome. It pretty much goes hand in hand with a memior about addiction called 'A Million Little Pieces' - and it's amazing how you can appreciate the lyrical content so much more when you understand (point of view of?) the addict. [must fill fill fill]
