Alain Chamfort - Biography

Alain Chamfort (real name Alain Legovic) was born on March 2, 1949 in Paris, France. He started taking piano lessons with his older sister. In 1962, Alain founded his first band, Dreamer's, then he became the organist of the bands Shaker's & Murator's. In 1996, he was the singer of Les Mod's & Jacques Dutronc's pianist. In 1968, he released his first solo 7" & in 1970, he met Claude François, who gave him the name Chamfort. Alain signed to Flèche & released the singles "Dans Les Ruisseaux", "L'Amour En France", "Signe De Vie Signe D'Amour", until "Le Temps Qui Court" (French version of Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic") in 1975. Alain left Flèche & signed to CBS.
In 1976, Alain released his LP Mariage À L'Essai. In 1977, he worked with American musicians & called Serge Gainsbourg, who wrote the lyrics of the album Rock'N'Rose. In 1979, Poses was released, including the hit "Manureva". Serge Gainsbourg only wrote 3 songs on the album. After Amour Année Zéro in 1981, Alain & Serge's collaboration ended.
In 1983, Alain released Secrets Glacés & produced Lio's second album. In 1986, he released his album Tendres Fièvres, written with lyricist Jacques Duvall. In 1987, he composed & produced songs for the duet À Caus' Des Garçons. In 1990, Trouble got new sounds & in 1993, he released Neuf, including the hit "L'Ennemi Dans La Glace". In 1995, Alain participated to les Francofolies de La Rochelle & recorded "Vu Du Ciel" & in 1997, Personne N'Est Parfait was his last album for Epic/Sony.
In 2003, Alain signed to Delabel/Virgin & released Le Plaisir, but he has been fired by his label the following year. In 2005, he received a Victoire De La Musique for "Les Beaux Yeux De Laure" video & performed at Paris' Jardins Du Luxembourg, followed by a live album. In 2006, he celebrated 40 years of career at Paris' Olympia. In 2007, he released the compilation of all his albums & on March 20, 2007, French Culture Minister Renaud Donnedieu De Vabres decorated Alain "Chevalier De La Légion D'Honneur". |
