AboutAlain Souchon (real name Alain Kienast) was born on May 27, 1944 in Casablanca, Morocco. He grew up in Paris with his father, an English teacher & his mother, a writer. Shy & melancholic, he skipped school. His mother sent him to England where he discovered The Rolling Stones & The Beatles : Alain started playing guitar & composing.
Back in France, he went to sing in Paris' cabarets & worked as a painter. In 1968, he met Françoise, who became his wife & they had 2 sons : Pierre & Charles. In 1971, Alain signed to Pathé Marconi & released some singles, but he was unhappy with music. His record company proposed him to take an arranger : Laurent Voulzy became Alain's best friend. In 1974, he released his first album J'Ai Dix Ans & the title-song became successful.
In 1980, Alain played his first role in Claude Berri's film "Je Vous Aime". Then he played in 7 films, like Jean Becker's "L'Été Meurtrier" with Isabelle Adjani & stopped his acting career. He joined the projects "Sol En Si" & "Les Enfoirés". In 1993, he released C'Est Déjà Ça, including "Foule Sentimentale" : the album sold 1 million copies & Alain got 2 Victoires De La Musique, "Song Of The Year" & "Male Artist". Au Ras Des Pâquerettes followed in 1999 & Souchon went on tour : the album J'Veux Du Live came out in December 2002. In 2005, with his album La Vie Théodore, dedicated to Françoise Sagan & Théodore Monod, Alain was a nice, modest French singer.
