Canadian singer Alanis Morissette has revealed in her autobiography that she was raped and abused when she was a teenager.
The singer-songwriter has written an autobiography where she has spilled the beans on her traumatic past.
"I'm writing a book that will tell my life story. It details some of the things I have experienced and the abuse I've suffered", The Mirror quoted her, as saying.
She added: "I was the victim of statutory rape and this book will help me get rid of the feelings of shame."
And her sordid past is the reason behind her grief-filled songs on international debut album, Jagged Little Pill.
The record is the highest selling debut album worldwide in history.
The multi-talented star has earlier disclosed that she suffered from anorexia and bulimia after she was told at the beginning of her career that she wouldn’t be successful if she were fat.
In a previous interview she said that she'd had lesbian relationships after dating a 29-year-old man when she was just 14, and even spoke of her experiences with drugs.
"My addictions were work and food. I smoked pot once in a while, but I’m too much of a control freak to be a drug person", she said. |
