I will now tell you why this album is so terrible. First off, to clear things up, I agree that there are more terrible bands out there that make worse music and that I am only writing this because they are popular. This is precisely why I write this review. Every time I turn on the radio I hear the American Idiots doing what they call music. Their lyrics are childish, their presentation dim-witted, and their vocals are whiny and irritating to the ears. At least the more terrible bands aren't playing every time I turn a corner. They are greatly overrated and are poisoning others with bad music taste that will only lead them to more bad music. Music should be challenging and if not that, then at least done well. This is neither of these. American Idiot is an accurate biography of the band. Hopefully in the future they will become an actually band that plays actual music. | 29-10-2007 23:37 Petroviic |

This is my favorite Green day album ever....well i like all of Green Day's other albums but i can listen to this one without switching tracks.....I think that Billy JOe Armstrong is an absolute genius for writing this album....Green Day has been together for like 18 years now....and i hope to hear a lot more from them!! | 25-03-2008 13:01 RandmBiskit |

I loved it. The first Greenday album I heard, it's what got me into them, and I'm now a big fan!
3548756 - I don't see what's so childish about the lyrics, the song American Idiot especially has, in my opinion, amazing lyrics. So many singers just sing about their own lives, but American Idiot has lyrics which are relevant to everyone including people who don't live in America. The other songs don't always have as good lyrics as that one, but they're generally good in my opinion.
If you don't like their vocals, fair enough, it's a matter of opinion, but how does that in any way make them 'bad music taste' or not an 'actual band'? I also don't see how their music isn't 'challenging', but again, that's a matter of opinion.
Music is entirely about opinion. Okay, there are admittedly people like me, who I think everyone would agree can't sing, but apart from that, it's based entirely on opinion. There are probably many people who think that the bands you like don't play 'real music', does that mean you have 'bad taste'? There isn't a band in the world that everyone likes, and if there were, they would get incredibly boring and overplayed. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it's 'bad' or not 'actual music', whatever that is. I'm a classical musician, does that mean I should think that all rock/pop etc isn't 'real music'? If you want to say you hate the album/band, fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion and right to speech, but please, don't insult my intelligence and music taste. | 27-07-2008 16:27 sk8erchick666 |
