Sandi Patty: The Definitive Collection [2007]

She is good and has a good message. I like to do her songs for competitions and talent shows and such because I like the way they are written and they are all beautiful. I was wondering, if you want to do someone's songs, how do you get permission from them? I would like to record the version I did of IN THE NAME OF THE LORD but I was wanting to ask her first since she made the song. Well, anyways, she is very nice and I hope to hear something about this soon.

She is the best representative for Classical music. I listen to her songs over and over and she has already done so much. Amazing artist. I love her and her voice. She is sweet and sounds like an angel. I would really love to see her in real life also! Very happy for her and love listening forever. yah!!!!

The Singles + [2003]

This is the follow-up to the first "The Singles" album, produced by BR Music. This time it's a double CD, with as most interesting feature it's three bonus tracks, marking the first time any Aphrodite's Child live performances were released.

The first bonus "End of the World live" sounds rather poor, mixed in mono, but contains some interesting sound effects and live performing which make it very much worth the while. The second is the Italian "Lontano Dagli Occhi" as it was live performed in a TV program, which some fans still have as a VHS recording. The band was asked questions by the audience and they performed this track. During the end titles they performed an impressive live jazzy jam session, which also appears on this CD.

The disc actually resembles The Complete Collection a lot, but cannot completely replace it, because "All the Seats Were Occupied" was omitted, and "Such a Funny Night" is featured here in a much shorter edit, with a number of repeats cut from the middle of the song. The sequence of Singles is slightly altered, and it includes live versions of "End of the World" and "Lontano Dagli Occhi," as well as the studio track "Pathenon," but other than that the two releases are identical. Both offer the hit singles "Rain and Tears" and "Break," as well as a run through the group's Mediterranean take on psychedelia and highlights of 1972's high-concept 666 -- widely considered to be Aphrodite's Child's finest hour.

The Singles [2001]

This collection consists of singles: A-sides and B-sides, especially taken from the era of Aphrodite's Child's first two albums, so this compilation doesn't show their most progressive collection of songs. Still, this is a very good record, because Aphrodite's Child was an accomplished singles band. And more than that: even their B-sides are often worth a listen, and strangely enough they are not taking the level of the album down.

It is another Dutch BR Music compilation, comparable to 1995's Greatest Hits disc, which confusingly has the same catalog number, although title and track selection are both completely different. The date on "The Singles" points to 1995, although the album was not actually released before 2001. The booklet inside has different pictures that cannot be found elsewhere.

The Complete Collection [1996]

This collection is not really the complete, as it only has about half of 666, but is otherwise the best and most complete collection of their recordings. A Double CD with a lot of tracks, compiled by Bert van Breda from BR Music, but released on another label (Mercury). The booklet is a lot like "Greatest Hits" but has other photos, and the error of listing "Sex Power" in the discography has been corrected

Actually, many of the tracks on this CD never appeared before on any CD. At the time they were only released on rare singles exclusive to certain countries only, like the Italian "Quando L'Amore Diventa Poesia" and "Lontano Dagli Occhi" tracks. This is one of the most recommendable Aphrodite's Child CDs out there. The only material missing is the progressive material represented in a number of tracks on the "666" album, where sound effects took over from the regular pop song format. Later on, more compilations were released with unreleased bonus material, which makes this album only a first step to completing your Aphrodite's Child collection.

Greatest Hits [1995]

This Dutch compilation, created by BR Music, contains a large selection of Aphrodite's Child tracks in excellent sound quality. The booklet is extensive, including many photos, texts and a quite elaborate discography listing unreleased music and rare releases. It also falsely lists Vangelis' "Sex Power" as an unreleased "Aphrodite's Child" album.

It's not all top-drawer stuff ... Past the brilliant Rain and Tears, the rest of Greatest Hits proves a tasty selection of tunes from their three albums End Of The World, It's Five O'Clock and 666, as well the odd single B-side. Highlights include the lovely organ-drenced It's Five O'Clock, (which bears certain similarities to Procol Harum's A Whiter Shade Of Pale), the eerie pscyhedelic pieces The Grass Is No Green and Day Of The Fool, the folky Valley Of Sadness (that's Mediterranean folk, not English folk, by the way!), the distinctly 60s-flavoured rocker Let Me Love, Let Me Live (written and sung by Sideras) and all four pieces from 666, with Babylon and the hypnotic The Four Horsemen standing out.

Babylon The Great [2002]

Babylon The Great is subtitled 'An Introduction To Aphrodite's Child', and as such it is the most interesting compilation of this unique band.

Tracks 1 - 9 are drawn from the first two albums plus single and EP releases, although their biggest hit 'Rain and Tears' (which did for Pachelbel what A Whiter Shade of Pale did for Bach) is missing.

Track 10, Chakachak, is a 16 minute instrumental composed and played by Vangelis on keyboards and percussion and which is previously unreleased.

The final 5 tracks are taken from 666, and this is the real meat for prog fans. However, the selections from the biblical double-LP lack some good tracks, and the taking these songs out of the original context breaks the idea of the original album concept.

Carolus Rex (Swedish Version) [2012]

When I first heard that Sabaton would release their album in swedish too I was not sure what to think. But after listening to the pre-release of Carolus Rex in swedish, all my doubts were instantly ereased. Sabaton made me, for the first time ever, seriously like a song sung in swedish. It was a great idea to record both one english and a swedish version of the album and the fact that it's all about Sweden and it's glory makes it just even more awesome!

Carolus Rex (English Version) [2012]

I never thought it was possible but Sabaton has damn well done it again. They've managed to produce a album far greater then any of their earlier works and the fact that it's entirely about Sweden dosen't hurt it one bit Continue to stay awesome and produce even more awesome albums Sabaton
