"The man in the box is quite hard to interpret, I found out its meaning. This is about censorship, with animal cruelty used as a metaphor. The "Man in the box" is like a veal calf trapped in confinement. And it goes onto talk about animal cruelty. Hope you enjoy this info. 3 posts | People...this is my way to look at it: Man in the Box is a religious song about how religion is closing our view of whats important and binding us away from freedom, hence the antagonic irony feed my eyes/ sew them shut. Furthermore it criticises the religious man for his inactivity towards his religious captivity "buried in my shit"
The whole song is metaphorical and ironic showing Layne's incredible racionalism and intellegence... That said, I hope you agree and Alice in Chains rocks until the end of times and beyond Layne's grave as long as we remember them... |
