| Yeah I like that song...that actually explains why they sing about marshmellow people and girls with kalidescope eyes and all that stuff. I get it now | 0 @ 16-04-2004 07:15 baaigones | 3,172 posts
| Okay, you can spell the song LSD, that's right, but check this link, it explains the title was just a coincidence. Yes, the Beatles used LSD, but not all they wrote was about drugs. On the album "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely hearts club band", at a time when they were 'big users', only 'Lucy in the sky with diamonds' can be seen as a drug song, all other songs are excellent stories, sometimes based on little things. For example, John Lennon wrote 'Being for the benefit of mr. Kite' based on an antique circus poster he had bought. 'A day in the life' was based on an article in 'the Daily Mail' about a friend of the Beatles who crashed his car into a lamp-post and an article about 4.000 holes in the streets of Blackburn. The genius in combining those two parts who have nothing in common comes from Mc Cartney. | 0 @ 16-04-2004 07:33 Tounge_ring | 48 posts

| I dont think da song is about LSD is just a coincidence or someone made dat up!! The song is really cool. I heard is bout a drawin John Lennons son made bout a friend called Lucy... not LSD... | 0 @ 11-06-2004 00:42 Beatlesrockhard | 13 posts
| I do have to say i think this song is about LSD i mean like it says put your head in the clouds and your gone and i mean just look what it is named, and The beatles were pretty much druggies and they expertimented a lot with different drugs so i can just see why it could be about LSD. | 0 @ 11-06-2004 00:47 SPLIFFMAN | 2,702 posts

| the song title refers to a picture julian lennon (one of john's sons) drew at school and brought home to his father. lucy was a girl in his class, and the picture was called [and was of] lucy in the sky with diamonds. lennon thought it sounded cool, and wrote a song around it. The LSD thing is a coincidence, and nothing more.
but ofcourse they dropped a lot of acid, and much of their music at the time (and lucy is no exception) tried to encapsulate the experiences they felt. the best example is perhaps george's 'It's all too much' which is a more graphic, deliberate musical portrayal of dropping too much acid. | 0 @ 12-06-2004 04:17 SPLIFFMAN | 2,702 posts
| ooooh i killed the thread by saying it isnt code for acid. grow up kids, the real story is more interestin neway | 0 @ 18-06-2004 22:31 HelloIloveyou | 23 posts

this is a great song. the lsd thing is indeed just a coincidence. if it was about lsd, i don't think lennon and the whole band would deny it.
