Benoit - Biography

The band members of Benoît were the lead singer, Esteban (from Montpellier), & 3 female singers, Aurélia Bindewald (from Toulon), Najoua Mazouri (from Nancy) & Véronina Raëlisson (from Toulouse). Before Benoît, Esteban was a singer, Aurélia was an actress & a dancer, Najoua was a student & Véronina was a TV host.
The Beginning
After a concert, Esteban met 2 producers (Jean-Michel Bacou & Christophe Casanave) who invited him to join the band they were going to create. He told them about Najoua : she met Véronina on an Internet chat, & Aurélia was the last to come in the band. Their name comes from the character of their first single.
Tourne-Toi
During April 2002, a dance/disco song started to be aired on French radios. It received good critics though the lyrics were a bit cocky. Benoît participated to "Hit Machine" on April 23, then they performed at the NRJ Music Party (where the chorus has been sung by the audience) & NRJ Party Tour. The song was about a boy who thinks he is with a girl, but the girl is, in fact, a transvestite ! The single peaked at N°16 in French charts.
Comme Casanova
In November 2002, Benoît released their second single, composed by Christophe Casanave, but this time, Najoua co-wrote the lyrics ! "Comme Casanova" was on the same vein as "Tourne-Toi", their first single, with an easy chorus, funny lyrics & dance/disco music. Unfortunately, the single was little aired on French radios & was less successful, it peaked at N°79 in French charts.
The End...
Early 2003, Benoît's album was recorded, they were about to release their third single, "L'Esprit De Famille"... But facing Star Academy & co., Benoît split. Esteban is still a singer, Véronina works in nightclubs in Toulouse, Aurélia played & created the choregraphy of a musical in Toulon & Najoua (renamed Najoua Belyzel) still works with Christophe Casanave, writing songs : one of them was Steeve Estatof's "Stella". |
