She never mentions the word addiction,
in certain company Yes, she'll tell you she's an orphan, after you meet her family She paints her eyes as black as night now, she pulls those shades down tight yeah, she gives a smile when the pain comes, the pain gonna' make everything alright She says she talks to angels they call her out by her name Oh yeah, she talks to angels says they call her out by her name She keeps a lock of hair in her pocket, she wears a cross around her neck Yes the hair is from a little boy; And the cross from someone she has not met, not yet she says she talks to angels, says they all know her name Oh yeah, she talks to angels says they call her out by her name She don't know no lovers, none that I've ever seen And to her that ain't nothing, but to me it means, means everything She paints her eyes as black as night now, she pulls those shades down tight Oh yeah; gives a smile when the pain comes, the pain gonna' make everything alright (alright, yeah yeah)! She talks to angels, says they call her out by her name Oh yeah, yeah angels call her out by her name Oh, Angels They call her out by her name Oh, She talks to angels They call her out, yeah yeah Call her out, don't you know that they call her out by her name |

919 posts | I agree with all of you...this is one of the best songs rock music has to offer. and I think this talented rock band has achieved mainstream success and they still are making good music. |

7 posts | this is such a great song. everthing about it is perfect, and it is so meaningful. its a song everyone can relate to, even if you have nothing in common with it, and that is something that as nonsensical as it may sound, still holds true in the best of songs |

5 posts | Just breathtaking. Incredible. And so unfortuantely rare. One of the few songs I can listen to constantly for hours and hours on end and never feel the impact and emotion fading.
Sorry to hear they're not making anything else. |

495 posts | Thanx for the info, Anthony. I guess I'll be "talking to angels" to see if the Black Crowes can be persuaded to regroup and formally reunite. |

495 posts | I love the Black Crowes, and this is probably my favourite.
Where are the Black Crowes these days? Does anybody know? Are they touring or working on a new CD? It's like they've vanished off the face of the earth. They had all this momentum and put out such great stuff; and now, nothing. |

1 posts | One of the few songs that brings tears to my eyes. So fragile. Reminds me of Stairway to heaven. Talkin' is maybe to much. got a mother that is goin sick, she's so hurt, and I hate her. Love her too, what you gonna do about it. This song makes me feel her pain. She's so isolated, so lonely. She shared her loneliness with me, made me a lonely person. In this song she is true, she is genuinely hurt, and she has a reason to build a world of make-believe. And maybe my mother has too. She dragged me into her world, at least for the time I was living there as a child. She still does. Now she is getting dependent on me, a state where she left me alone. And I have to take care of her. I have to, because I think I have to, and because I love her. And maybe because I feel guilty for a deed I have not done. But i am the only person to give her freedom, she's never trusted nobody in the whole fuckin'world, now she has lost everything. She's a widow. I feel her pain in this song.. |
