Lyrics

Doo doo doo doooo, doo doo doo doooo, doo doo doo doooo
Aaahhh, aaahhh

Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods ?
Where's the street-wise Hercules to fight the rising odds ?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed ?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need

I need a hero, I'm holding out for at hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He's gotta be sure and it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life, larger than life

Doo doo doo doooo, doo doo doo doooo, doo doo doo doooo
Aaahhh, aaahhh

Somewhere after midnight, in my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He's gotta be sure and it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

I need a hero, I'm holding out for at hero 'till the the end of the night

Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear there is someone somewhere, watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain and the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach, like a fire in my blood

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He's gotta be sure and it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero 'till the end of the night

I've always liked this song, but the reason I looked up the lyrics was because I heard a metal version from Graveworm, it's so epic

In my opinion, this is the king of the 80's songs
In my mind (when I hear this) I picture a brave knight charging to the castle and defeating the dragon and saving the princess.
    But hey, I'm a newb

When I heard This Classic Bonnie Tyler track on Footloose I was blown away though I have heard other versions none quite match the Bonnie's. In fact none even comes close

This song originally was the theme song for a tv show called Coverup. It was a show out in the 1980's that abruptly ended when the leading man accidentally killed himself onstage with a prop gun, just a freak accident type of thing; but this song is excellent and I love it! I think its kind of haunting but beautiful and summing up every womans search for her hero.
