28,546 posts	Jesse said in his diary on the website, "Being in a band means missing out on all the things you didn't wanna miss out on by having a normal job which is why you joined a band in the first place." That may not be exact but it's the point that matters. I think that sums up this song...he kinda wishes he could live a normal life and that some of the annoying, fad-driven fans like most of the girls would go away. The ending is also amazing even though I have no idea what it means.

The band are in a lucky position to be doing what they want and doing it successfully, and I guess it just pisses me off that this song affected the way I viewed the rest off them. The song is really striking none-the-less

24 posts	i think that this song is great. the way that i interpret the end is that being on tour and writing songs is a way to forget the girl that he is writing about in the first place, and that he is "drowning" memories of her. im not quite sure if im right though

12,779 posts	if looks could really kill, then my profession would staring. that's my favorite line. i love this song so much. there are several different ways to interpret it, but i think that it means that it's about them being on tour and not being able to be home and everything... hence stated in the line "please know we do this cause we care and not for the thrill". brand new is extremely talented... i am a HUGE brand new fan and i always will be... because their music has so much meaning, and their sound is unique.

Also the "Secrets for a buck" part could be like about invasive journalism...like how now that he's a celebrity ppl know all of his secrets or something. I think the "I'm an old abandoned Church" part could be like...you know how ppl say your body is a temple well the church could be his body and inside he's empty and broken. Wooh! I'm brilliant!
