Song lyrics
Jesus christ that's a pretty face.
The kind you'd find on someone that could save.
If they don't put me away, well it would be a miracle.
Do you believe you're missing out,
When everything good is happening somewhere else?
But with nobody in your bed,
The night's hard to get through.

And I will die all alone.
And when I arrive I won't know anyone.

Well jesus christ I'm alone again.
So what did you do those three days you were dead?
'Cause this problem's gonna last more than the weekend.
Well jesus christ I'm not scared to die.
I'm a little bit scared of what comes after:
Do I get the gold chariot?
Do I float through the ceiling?
Do I divide and fall apart?
'Cause my bright is too slight to hold back all my dark.
And this ship went down in sight of land.
And at the gates does Thomas ask to see my hands?

I know you'll come in the night like a thief,
But I've had some time oh lord,
To hone my lying technique.
And I know you think that I'm someone you can trust,
But I'm scared I'll get scared.
And I swear I'll try to nail you back up. (And you won't know)
So do you think we could work out a sign. (Together.)
So I'll know it's you and that it's over, so I won't even try.
I know you're coming for the people like me,
But we all got wood and nails;
We don't turn out hate in factories.
Yea, we all got wood and nails;
We don't turn out hate in factories.
We all got wood and nails.
And we sleep inside of this machine.

This song is complete perfection. It's makes me sort of depressed in a happy way, if that makes any sense at all. I love this song and I love this band. 3

This song is the greatest song ever.

The last minute or so, after the song stops and then starts again, I think is suppose to be his journy through eternity. That last strum before the break is the singer dying. In my opinion.

Perfect 10.

I'm so in love with Brand New... It's not even funny.
This song is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

PLUS i get to hear it live in nine days. WOOOOOOH.

"Do i get the gold chariot?
Or do I float through the ceiling?"

I registered just so i could say how amazingly good this song is. The entire album is an exceptional experience- so unique, original, and poignant, Brand New set the bar when it comes to lyrics. Jesse Lacey is the poet of our age! Classic!

The more i listen to this song, the more i am in awe. A previous comment spoke of the simplicity of it, i know exactly what u mean. I also believe even though writing a simple song can be easy, writing it and making it sound as good as this one does, is very difficult. This song is a refreshing representation of Jesse's spiritual struggles, it is the most honest song i think i have ever heard. If only other musicians would put their heart into it like he does.

What really amazes me is how simple songs (I mean I love it and all but it's really only this riff and two arpeggiated chords) can sound so good. I used to always think that a song had to be musically quite complex to sound good, but it just shows there's something more to songs. What makes some sound better to one person than others? It's just something I can't figure out.

If Jesse Lacey were any more of a genius than he already is, it would be ridiculous. He's an amazing writer/singer/performer. I love this song.

just a few problems with the lyrics and title. The title of the song is Jesus Christ. And a technicality-- Jesus Christ is a proper noun, capitalize it please. thanks

ahh this song is going to be the death of me! so...isnt it quite possible that jesse is singing "my bright is too slight..." it makes more sense and it's really a beautiful line. and also, i kinda here "i've had some time, oh lord..." instead of alone. figuring out the correct lyrics to a song has never been so damn difficult or important to me lol. kthanks.

Sorry for all the mistakes and changes guys. This song is a pain. I think I've finally got it down (with various peoples help) except the words in the background. Any help on that is greatly appreciated.

And of course this is an awesome song and album.
