| there are so many biblical allusions in this song, its awesome
-Thomas was the disciple that doubted that Jesus had risen, and when he finally met the risen Christ, he said that he would not believe until he saw the holes in Jesus' hands and feet.
-Jesus told a parable relating his second coming to "a thief in the night"
-Jesus was dead for three days.
-Still wondering about the gold chariot, can anyone help me there? I know Elijah was taken to heaven in a chariot of fire, don't know if that has anything to do with it...
-The "nailing back" and "wood and nails" is for the crucifixion
the ending of this song is so powerful, it gives me shivers. i think its about jesse longing to be connected with christ without the burden of religion...but regardless, its still an amazing song. |

Not to sound like an asshole or anything, but if a song is called "Jesus Christ" I can't really understand how you can get it to "wooden nails" instead of "wood and nails". |

This is a great song. I love it because it's reminds me about how I feel about religion. Plus I am pretty sure where it says "So do you think we could work out a something." it should be sign instead of something. "So do you think we could work out a sign. So I know it's you and that it's over, so I won't even try." Makes more sense huh? |

Sorry for all the mistakes and changes guys. This song is a pain. I think I've finally got it down (with various peoples help) except the words in the background. Any help on that is greatly appreciated.
And of course this is an awesome song and album. |

ahh this song is going to be the death of me! so...isnt it quite possible that jesse is singing "my bright is too slight..." it makes more sense and it's really a beautiful line. and also, i kinda here "i've had some time, oh lord..." instead of alone. figuring out the correct lyrics to a song has never been so damn difficult or important to me lol. kthanks. |
