Calogero Maurici was born on July 30, 1971 in Grenoble, France. He grew up in Echirolles, near Grenoble. At 6, his older brother Gioacchino taught him to play flute, piano and guitar. At 15, the two brothers founded a band with their friend Francis Maggiulli, named Les Charts. Francis played keyboards, Charly (Calogero) played bass and was the lead singer and Jacky (Gioacchino) played guitar. After many concerts, producer Philippe Gaillard remarked them and Les Charts recorded their first album L'Océan Sans Fond released in 1989. Four albums followed and Les Charts disbanded in 1997.
In 1999, Calogero released his first album Au Milieu Des Autres, produced by Pascal Obispo, and Zazie wrote the lyrics of 3 songs on this album. At the same time, he composed songs for other artists : "Chatelet, Les Halles" & "L'Air Du Temps" by Florent Pagny, "Au Nom D'Une Femme" by Hélène Segara & "Millésime" by Pascal Obispo.
In early 2002, Calogero released his second album Calogero. In late 2003, his daughter Nina was born. In 2004, he received a Victoire De La Musique for "Male Artist" and released his third album 3. In late 2006, his second daughter Romy was born. Calogero was back in March 2007 with his fourth album Pomme C and co-wrote all the songs with Zazie. |
