| Song lyrics |
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine, I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone
I never conquered, rarely came
Sixteen just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends
You'll never step foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault
I never conquered, rarely came
Sixteen just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never conquered, rarely came
But tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I can't wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I've survived
I can't wait till I get home
To pass the time in my room alone

idk are they referring to Nirvana. I think they are:
"I took my time
I hurried Up
The Choice was mine"
to Nirvana
"Take Your Time
Hurry Up
The Choice is yours"

"please tell mom this is not her fault" dude that is like the most poignant lyric of all time. and the melody is simple but haunting and embeds itself in your brain. I heard some kid from Columbine put this song on repeat and hung himself to it, and I can understand that, it just evokes emotion and angst. Strong departure from the equally good lighter anthems on the album. | 30-03-2005 15:06 Apple_Shampoo | 12 posts

This is one of their best songs, and I think this is something everyone can like.
I dont think like everyone can like Degenerate, but most of them Adams song.
And this song also has one the best videos

Ever noticed when they are talking about something that happed to some famous person on VH1 this guitar riff always comes on. Everyone knows the riff, no one knows the song. Great song though. Very emotional. | 02-04-2005 21:33 fai | 1 posts

Dont call yourself the biggest fan if u dont know how to interpret the song and dont know what it's about. I don't say im the biggest fan but I know I am a really big fan and I know how to interpret the song and know what the song means.
What it's about.
First off all, the song is about depression followed by suicide but at last the one who is about the commit suicide doesnt do it. They wrote this song after they had read a letter written by a fan just before he committed suicide.
The Nirvana line.
They didnt steal it it was a oath to Nirvana cause they liked the music. The oath was appreciated by Kris Novolesic and Dave Grohl.
That one line.
The line I trace the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all.
was about a nearly death experience by Tom. Once he was about to play his guitar in his garage and the cord was torn up and it was running through a little water, so if his guitar was plugged in he would be dead now.
Blink Rocks I really love their music.
(If u got questions about any of their songs or the band in general u can mail me or add me on MSN: Master_fai@hotmail.com)

blink you rock. i totally relate to this song.my sister took her life about 3 weeks ago and i recently tried too. i hope blink will write more songs like this in the future
i think the lyrics
"i traced the cord back to the wall
no wonder it was never plugged in at all"
means that Adam tried to keep his life going but he couldn't find any meaning to it | 09-04-2005 13:41 orientals | 8 posts

Strange, because it really isn't the greatest song in the world but I guess that doesn't matter. I love it! | 05-08-2005 20:39 Jfizzle38 | 1,602 posts
