Song lyrics
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine, I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came
Sixteen just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends
You'll never step foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came
Sixteen just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never conquered, rarely came
But tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I can't wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I've survived
I can't wait till I get home
To pass the time in my room alone

I agree with a lot of the people here, who have commented before me. This song shows how deep Blink 182 can go, and how much emotion they put in this song, it's amazing.

I do not know the supposed story behind the song. If anyone knows, could you please let me know?

this is a great song. it is about adam tom's cousin. he commited suicide and this is tom's tribute to him.

and as for the "stealing". i have no doubt that blink was somewhat inspired from nirvana. kurt was a great song writer, but is it so bad that artists take one persons writing and twists and altrers it to fit and form to their own circumstance.

when a song inspires me i sometimes use the same concept or idea for some of the songs i write.

"I traced the cord back to the wall, no wonder it was never plugged in at all" is reffering to when Tom was in his garage and the floor was covered in water. He turned his amp on and would have been eletrocuted if it was on and by coincidence it wasn't plugged in at the wall. Tom is still with us today people! Thank the Lord!

No wait, forget that last part.
