| Song lyrics |
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
And anytime you feel the pain
Hey Jude refrain
don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool
who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
Na na na na na
na na na na
Hey Jude don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her
Remember to let her into your heart
then you can start to make it better
So let it out and let it in
Hey Jude begin
You're waiting for someone to perform with
And don't you know that it's just you
Hey Jude, you'll do
The movement you need is on your shoulder
Na na na na na
na na na na yeah
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
Better, better, better, better, better, oh
Na, na na na na na na
na na na na, hey Jude
Na, na na na na na na
na na na na, hey Jude
Na, na na na na na na
na na na na, hey Jude
Na, na na na na na na
na na na na, hey Jude
Jude Jude a Judy Judy Judy Judy, ow
Na, na na na na na na
na na na na, Hey Jude
(Jude Jude Jude Jude Jude)
Na, na na na na na na
na na na na na, Hey Jude
(Hey Jude Hey Jude)
na na na na na na na
nananana hey jude
na na na na na na na
nananana hey jude
Na, na na na na na na
na na na na, hey Jude
na na na na, Hey Jude

I agree. Hey Jude is a fav. not only because of the simple piano and voice accompaniment, but it also has a great story around it. (Courtesy: The Beatles Anthology).
"The movement you need is on your sho-oulder."
Paul McCartney had little clue what that lyric even meant when he wrote it. He wrote the song for John's boy, Julian (was "Hey Jules", but quickly changed to Jude), and played the song for John when he got a draft finished. So when he played it, he casually assured John that that lyric would get changed.
"'on your shoulder'...It makes it sound like a parrot or something," Paul said, to which John replied that he understood it and loved it!
According to Paul, it's one of his favorite memories of John. | 25-06-2004 07:34 KaraCANNIBAL | 15 posts

| in 1980 john gave an interview in which he said that he believed that Paul had actually written this song with ,subconsciously, john and yoko in mind. and that the song was in fact about paul letting john go.
interesting when you read the lyrics with this in mind. | 04-10-2004 12:28 frida_sueca | 23 posts

Yes, John thought that the song was about him, while other people were sure it was about Bob Dylan. And even if it was written with Julian Lennon in mind, Paul says this song really shows where he was at that time. A little confusing maybe. Another fun fact about the song is that, when recording, Ringo went to the bathroom and didn't come back to his drums until after the others had started playing. Paul really liked that the drums were late, and kept it that way in the singleversion. These small things really make the song even better, if that's possible. I have to say that I've never heard any other song that makes me shiver like Hey Jude, it is fantastic and magical in every way. Far better than great, and 5 in each category is just not enough. | 07-11-2004 18:28 canadienne | 16 posts
