Keep the noise low, She doesn’t want to blow it.
Shaking head to toe while your left hand does the show me around.
Quickens your heartbeat, It beats me straight into the ground.
You don’t recover from a night like this.
A victim, still lying in bed - completely motionless.
A hand moves in the dark to a zipper.
Hear a boy bracing tight against sheets barely whisper,
This is so messed up.
Upon arrival the guests had all stared,
Dripping wet and clearly depressed, he'd headed straight for the stairs.
No longer cool, but a boy in a stitch.
Unprepared for a life full of lies and failing relationships.
(Up the stairs, the station where the act becomes the art of growing up.)
He keeps his hands low,
He doesn't wanna blow it.
He's wet from head to toe, and his eyes give her the up and the down.
His stomach turns, and he thinks of throwing up.
But the body on the bed beckons forward, and he starts growing up.
The fever, the focus,
The reasons that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself!
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathe,
But now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.
She hits the lights,
This doesn't seem quite fair.
Despite everything he learned from his friends, he doesn't feel so prepared.
She's breathing quiet and smooth,
He is gasping for air.
This is the first and last time, he says.
She fakes a smile, and presses her hips into his.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He's holding back from telling her exactly what it really feels like.
He is the lamb, she is the slaughter.
She's moving way too fast, and all he wanted was to hold her.
Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect.
He whispers that he loves her, but she's probably only looking for...
(Up the stairs, the station where the act becomes the art of growing old.)
So much more than he could ever give,
A life free of lies and a meaningful relationship.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides,
He waits for it to end and for the aching in his gut to subside.
The fever, the focus,
The reason that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of,
It used to be the reason that I breathed,
But now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.
Up the stairs, the station where the act becomes, the art of growing up.
The fever, the focus,
The reason that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of,
It used to be the reason that I breathed,
But now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.
This is the only Brand New song I have heard, and from what people have told me, it fails in comparison to some of the others. But, I think it's a pretty song. So..hoorah!
This song introduced me to Brand New (I was a punk rocker until recently, and hadn't heard of them)
It's video caught my eye to start with, it was dark and interesting (helps that Jesse is somewhat of a stud)
The song is immense, I listened to it over and over for a good 20 hours at a time and never got bored
When I got BN's albums I heard better songs on there, but this one will always give me tingles
that's really cool with the lamb, i've never realized that and i also wanted to agree with xHerzeleid i like that brand new used a latin phrase too, i've been taking latin for 3 years and it really shows someone's intelligence when they incorporate latin to their work
I love this song, I think it's my new favorite. The video made for this song was so cool. I never really liked music like this until a good friend of mine forced me to listen to it. Now .... I love it! This song f-ing rules.
I really got into BN last summer. I had heard some of their older stuff but none of the stuff on this album but i went ahead and got it anyway. Glad i did cuz they freakin rock. I think that BN has the best lyrics of any band around now, hands down. They actually make good music... not just some catchy, crappy tune that appeals to middle school age girls so it gets played on the radio 24-7. Thats it i've made my statement.
i love the way you talk about loving a band, yet you're mad that they became successful and are played on much music.. and dont give me that crap about selling out.. selling out is when they change their style of music to make money with the people who arent their fans already... just because a band is making money, doesnt make them a sell out.
To the people who said that the title of the album was in latin... I'm sorry to say this but you're wrong. Deja entendu is in french. It means already heard. Then again, maybe it's in latin too, I don't know latin. But I'm sure that it's french.
