Keep the noise low, She doesn’t want to blow it.
Shaking head to toe while your left hand does the show me around.
Quickens your heartbeat, It beats me straight into the ground.
You don’t recover from a night like this.
A victim, still lying in bed - completely motionless.
A hand moves in the dark to a zipper.
Hear a boy bracing tight against sheets barely whisper,
This is so messed up.
Upon arrival the guests had all stared,
Dripping wet and clearly depressed, he'd headed straight for the stairs.
No longer cool, but a boy in a stitch.
Unprepared for a life full of lies and failing relationships.
(Up the stairs, the station where the act becomes the art of growing up.)
He keeps his hands low,
He doesn't wanna blow it.
He's wet from head to toe, and his eyes give her the up and the down.
His stomach turns, and he thinks of throwing up.
But the body on the bed beckons forward, and he starts growing up.
The fever, the focus,
The reasons that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself!
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathe,
But now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.
She hits the lights,
This doesn't seem quite fair.
Despite everything he learned from his friends, he doesn't feel so prepared.
She's breathing quiet and smooth,
He is gasping for air.
This is the first and last time, he says.
She fakes a smile, and presses her hips into his.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He's holding back from telling her exactly what it really feels like.
He is the lamb, she is the slaughter.
She's moving way too fast, and all he wanted was to hold her.
Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect.
He whispers that he loves her, but she's probably only looking for...
(Up the stairs, the station where the act becomes the art of growing old.)
So much more than he could ever give,
A life free of lies and a meaningful relationship.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides,
He waits for it to end and for the aching in his gut to subside.
The fever, the focus,
The reason that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of,
It used to be the reason that I breathed,
But now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.
Up the stairs, the station where the act becomes, the art of growing up.
The fever, the focus,
The reason that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of,
It used to be the reason that I breathed,
But now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.
totally frikin awesome! die young and save yourself!... i was wondering what the lamb is in the beginning on the door..does it stand for something cuz its also on the guys briefcase in "Ocean Avenue" by Yellowcard..
WOW. I really thought I was the only one who noticed the lamb. I think maybe they're record labels are merged because I am pretty sure they aren't on the same label.
The first time I heard this song I didn't know the lyrics but I thought it sounded really cool so my friend burnt me a cd and I learned how to play it on my guitar. After hearing the song a couple times I thought 'great, another song about sex' but when I started to hear more of the words I began to figure out what the song was really all about and I found it really interesting. I looked up the lyrics so I could get the whole picture and understand the song better and decided I love this song.
How are other Brand New songs? I've never heard anything but Sick Transit. For about the last year I've cut myself off from almost everything that has to do with media so I'm not really with it, if ya get what I'm saying.
So it's off of much music now, i don't know either to be sad or glad like the garbage bags. oh well i still like brand new but this song has gotten old. sorry for all you people that are just starting to listen to them i don't mean to offend you it was fun while it lasted
I love seeing all these Brand New fans. They are my favorite band and this is definitely one of the greatest songs (in my opinion) of all time.
All of their lyrics are pure genious in their originality, creativity, and sense of self. I wish I had Jesse's writing ability (or just Jesse...hahaha j/k sorta).
ahhh i loovee this song
i love brand new
they are the best emo band i know
and today i just started listening to them again
but before..like 3 months ago i listend to them everyday
:sigh: they really do rock
I love Brand New. I first came across the Quiet Things video and thought "wow this is pretty cool". When I saw the Sic Transit video on FUSE I didn't pay much attention to it until i saw it was by Brand New and after that I became a complete addict to the song!
Fuse rocks because if it wasn't for Fuse i'd have never heard of brand new at all! Oops getting off topic.
Yea the lyrics are amazing "the act becomes the art of growing up"
"die young and save yourself" Good stuff.
yes Brand NEw is a great band and they are amazing but they haev other great sogns too....and to the person somewere on the first page...the songs isnt called the Getaway its called seventy times seven which somewhere in the bible means forgiveness which if you knew the history of brand enw and taking back sunday would mean something to you...but it is a good songs anyways
I invited a guy over one night from far away. I have liked him for a while, and well we hit it right off, but we didn't have sex or nothing. This song so hits that night, just like it, but I knew he hated it in the end by the way he acts now. I hate guys, but yeah this song is this shit!
I hate it how everyone knows about them now because they are going to be like...Ohhh brand new I love you I'm your number one fan...when really they JUST heard of them...I've known them for like...2 years now and I love them to bits...and this pisses me off their becoming main stream!
[i]this song is totally beautiful! Masterpiece man! It's so great! I'm in love with this song! I swear! This song is so wonderful. You can almost smell the fear of the boy in question. I also like the fact that it shows a boy being pushed into sex, not just us girls. It's awesome!!!
I love BRAND NEW!
