Song lyrics
Where are we?
What the hell
is going on?
The dust has only just
Begun to fall
Crop circles in the carpet
Sinking,
Feeling

Spin me round again
And rub
my eyes
This can't be
happening
When busy streets
a mess with people would stop to hold
their heads
heavy

Hide and Seek
Trains and sewing machines.
All those years
They were here first

Oily marks appear on walls
where pleasure moments hung before
The takeover
The sweeping insensitivity
of this
Still Life

Hide and Seek
Trains and sewing machines (Oh, you won't catch me around here)
Blood and tears (Hearts)
They were here first

Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that you only meant well?
Well, of course you did.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's all for the best?
Ah, off course it is.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it’s just what we need?
And you decided this?
Mmm what you say?
Mm,
What Did She Say?

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
Mid-sweet talk
Newspaper word cut-outs (Paper word cut outs)
Speak no feeling
No, I dont believe you * i dont believe you
You don't care a bit,
You Don't Care A Bit

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth (Hide and Seek)
Mid-sweet talk
Newspaper word cut-outs
Speak no feeling (Hide and Seek)
No, I dont believe you
You don't care a bit,
You Don't Care A Bit (you don't care a bit)

Oh, no (Hide and Seek)
You don't care a bit. (Hide and Seek)
Oh, no
You don't care a bit.
Oh, no
You don't care a bit
You don't care a bit
You Don't Care A Bit

The question is not what the song meant to the songwriter. The clarity of purpose and original meaning for the music as felt by the artist would be lost on the majority of listeners. Listeners experience this song as only facsimile, a copy, of the writer’s intent and journey through the experience of creation for each beat. The question rather is what was YOUR experience when you sat back the first time and really, really, listened… to this masterpiece of emotional nuance and cascade of puritanical beauty. If you've listened to the song and understood it on the multitude of it's intended out of bounds dimensional levels, then the emotional release within you is absolutely inescapable. Trust me, when you've listened to it in the right way at the right time in the perfect moment of whatever your particular life’s day to day brings, the crush is from this work of art, is not far away. Good luck in your quest to find the meaning. I'll say this maybe if politicians and policy makers could feel this song, and understand it, we’d have less and less hatred in a world filling with petty contrived profit motivated behavior.

This song and I'll always speak in the context of this song. The song reminds me of a while ago when I met a friend. Let's call her, Traingirl. It was like the most perfect getting together of people but so full of not so funny complexity and schedules that trying to communicate between the two of us was impossible. The only way to talk was to find a way that was a little indirect. I think the lyrics and this song communicates in an intentional concealed way to hide some complexities that could potentially be so very painful to say outright the person avoids it and talks in riddles that only make sense to the other person involved. Does anyone out there know exactly what I mean?

I was led to this song by a stranger whom I had a chance encounter with........I am grateful not only for the chance encounter, but for being turned on to this song. It appeals to me in so many ways and filled me with emotions

I'm going to let this song remind me of how little control we have over certain things in our life and we should embrace every chance moment we are given. Live life without regrets.

The song has so much confusion in it and describes such an intense story where one is trying so hard to find out where they are. Maybe they are nowhere and maybe they just concentrate on so many other things yet given the chance would like things to change but has not real concept of where the other individual stands.

Ok Like one of my other posts you may have read some time ago I met this person and it was totally crazy. I can't go into it but the song features a person struggling to know how they should feel about something like in the end where the lyrics mmm what you say piece. Part of them has notions that aren't healthy and the other feelings like You don't care bit, create the other side of the monster. With that person it would be easy and comfortable to pursue something that in the end might not even be there. See what I'm saying

Maybe you should just enjoy the moment and not think about pursuing things that may or may not exist. It sounds like the traingirl may have brought you some much needed excitment, I'm sure she wouldn't have wanted it to cause you long term pain.

I think you're right, and guess that really answers the first question in the song What the hell is going on. I agree with your perspective Traingirl was very good in terms of being honest and answering the questions. It didn't work out but there are moments when I can't help smile despite how messed up the situtation was. The time, hard to explain to you, was very very new and there was this connection, many actually that made a person sort of want a little more. Hope you can see a little of that perspective. But i know you are right.

Wow, how amazing that a brief encounter can evoke such emotion. I'm happy to know there are still people in the world who are open to new opportunites and accept someones honesty and smile just thinking of even the tiniest of details....maybe such as the way someones upper lip glows......we should all wish for those moments and never give up HOPE that they do still exist. I'm positive traingirl feels the same way about meeting you.

Yes she was cool, one of those things where you were prepared to walk away and did actually, and quite frankly that was the right thing but just like the song there was contact later and I need to respond and find out what was up. Your right she was just being who she was and being kind and appreciative. I responded and found out what was what. You would have liked to know her though she had the greatest personality and was so easy to laugh and shoot the breeze with. Very nice lots of good detail.

You should feel somewhat flattered. If she was as geniune as you say she was, people of that calibar typically are only attraced to those with similar qualities. I guess you must be a pretty great guy too! Maybe you'll take a train ride again, in another city....maybe even another country. But until then, enjoy your memory of an evening that sounds like something movies are made of.

Boy these posts take time to show up, Well I'll keep an open mind but it's those qualities that are important in setting the bar higher. I left it with her to work out her life and I've got lots to work on in mine. Perhaps like in this song all the years, trains will lead somewhere and I made it clear to her that when things, or if they ever got less complicated and there was a need to talk again I'd be there to help figure things out. There's no pain in that cause frankly all I've done about it since is smile.

I'm glad I had this time with you "latecoffeetrain" I hope things in both your lives get figured out. Sometimes our lives are filled with so many obligations that our choices seem limited. I think maybe one day you'll hear from "traingirl" again, and when she calls you to say hello....you'll instantly have a smile. Until that time comes, know that what you both shared was a connection few ever get to experience. Isn't life great sometimes? Those types of events seem to pop up at times when all else around you seems to be crumbling. Enjoy life, simle often.

You never know. Not sure about you be the time in this end of the world is later. Big things tomorrow so this will be my final post and perhaps I'll catch you on another song some day. If not have a great life and take the time to listen to this song many more times. You hear something different each time. If I do talk to traingirl I'll remind her of all the attributes that meant something. The smarts, the personality, the beauty, the incredible and evocative nature of her mind and life. You take care. Hope you find all that you are looking for. I'm reading one last post and then shutting it all off.

Before I say good bye, you must know that as I write these final words I am filled with tears. I am overwhelmed right now. I can't explain why you met her, just know that she truley needed something and you provided it. She is very grateful and will cherish those hours for many years. Continue your search and keep an open mind, you'll find what you are looking for when you least expect to. ciao bello.

I need to add another point about this song. I agree with the other posts. It plays over and over in your head. On airplanes, airports, even when you get home to piles and piles of work. Nice to be able to log in and post comments.
