Though it gets me in a sad mood, I can't stop loving it. I agree that the first verse could be about 9/11. Though the whole song gives me the impression of a heartbreak, confusion and sorrow.

"Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling." - like your heart is having holes burt into it. "Spin me round again and rub my eyes. This can't be happening." - The shock of losing something you love in an instant. It is all over so fast. "Trains and sewing machines. All those years they were here first." - every day things (like trains and sewing machines) mean nothing, they are just objects, compared to the years that were spent with the person they love. I have only just talked about the first part of the song, coz it would take forever to talk bout all the lyrics... this song is amazing it describes the feeling of loss and heartbreak sooo well. "the sweeping insensitivity of this still life" its not just the lyrics either, the soft music and the lonely voice are full of sorrow and pain.

Does anyone actually know Imogen Heap outside of this song and outside of the O-fucking-C? :p. I love her and this song though, so it's all good . this song is really good. Everyone should go listen to frou frou now. She does great in everything though.

This song is about everything splintering in that moment. It's about everything they did together being tied to some object or place, and she's remembering it all as he's trying to run the standard breakup lines by her and to convince her that he cares so he can leave.
