4,992 posts	rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal Both versions are great and awsome, and the words are so touching, but i like Shinedown's version better because you can really feel the emotion in the singer's voice, he has such a great voice and the song sounds great as simple as it but the guitar playing in Lynyrd's Skynyrd's song is awsome.

17 posts	Shinedown should be commended for having the guts to do this cover. It takes a lot of moxy to properly cover this song. This is by far one of the greatest songs ever written, and is held sacred by a lot of people. This was arguably Skynard's greatest song, and I loved this tribute.

1 posts	I must admit, Shinedown had done a fine job in covering this song, but it is far from Skynyrd's version. Ronnie Van Zant was a brilliant songwriter, and this song is very near the top of my favorite song list. This song is amazing live too. Anyways, props to Shinedown for doing a fine job.

2 posts	rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal I'm a huge skynyrd fan, so when a friend told me about this cover, i was like "there's no way, i'm definately gonna hate it..." but i heard it, and immediately loved it. shinedown took this one step further than a cover - they made it their own in a great way, while keeping the american rock n' roll roots intact. no one will ever be better than skynyrd for me... but these guys come close.

34 posts	rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal As you can probably tell from my name,this is my favorite song.The orginal,performed by lynard skynard,is such a great song and,in my eyes,only surpassed by the shinedown cover.The vocals are better then the orginal and i think the acoustic is better then the electric guitar for this song.So shindown beat lynard skynard in instruments and vocal.All together it is a very powerfull song.The lyrics seem cliche but it gets the point accrose in such a beautiful way,it makes it more original.I plan to play this song for my upcoming child(due in may ).I will play it acoustic while my girl(who has a great singing voice)sings to my child as a lullaby,befor he sleeps.
