It's beautiful, it's powerful and I think the lyrics are just some of the best ever written. Staind's verison is good too, but it's gotta be Eddies voice for me to make it amazing.

They were going to release it as a single but eddie vedder didn't want it to be, instead choosing 'oceans' which didn't do so well at least not as well as i think 'black' would have done if it was released. p.s Riot Act is right, these lyrics are wrong, it's "i know you'll be a star" not "i know you'll be the sun" although vedders lyrics are often hard to hear it definately says star, what i dont get is how anyone could possibly decode lyrics on 'yellow ledbetter' they're in audible!

Eddie Vedder is a great singer and the way he sings is so very unique compared to others and pearl jam music is so full of meaning. When I get depressed I listen to this song over and over again and it makes me feel so happy and I just forget about everything else. Rock on pearl jam!

63 posts	rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal when I was 8, one of my father's friend had kind of an official booklet of the album "ten" with lyrics and time signatures and stuff, and the lyrics said "I know you'll be the sun". I can remember it, because at the time I used to think he was saying "I know you'll be a star". I was disappointed because that was all I had managed to understand of whole the song (i'm a native french speaker) well, however, it definitely sounds like "a star" though...
