| Song lyrics |
How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky
Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the land slide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova
Coz people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning around
We don't know why
Why why why why
How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova
Coz people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning around
We don't know why
Why why why why
How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high

This song has nothing to do with drug addiction.
It really is about the good times and how you can never get those back, so make the best of your life while you have it.
I play this song everytime me and my friends have a good night, whether that be drinking, deep talks, adventures, etc... | 08-12-2004 03:01 drumsolo | 273 posts

| Whats wrong with you. THe song is about drugs... If any of you knew any thing about Oasis other then their name you would noel the lead songer has a heroin addiction. His love of bar fights and heroin broke up the band. The song is a cry for help directed at noels bother (the lead guitar player). All your responses to Champagne Supernova made me bleed internaly. | 08-02-2005 11:41 Coombes | 1,334 posts
| i cant believe it. you're all wrong !! this song isnt about liam, or drugs or life. its about their father !! my god, so many oasis fans who know nothing about the bands music. | 22-02-2005 02:30 rouGhdrAft15 | 26 posts

Actually, in an interview with MTV back in '96 or '97 Noel Gallegher said he'd been so wasted writing this song, that its lyrics really had no significance. Hell,
"slowly walking down the hall
faster than a cannonball"
That just don't mean nothing.
Sadly, since the whole band stopped taking drugs, their music has sucked. Guess you can't do albums like this and "Definately Maybe" sober.....
Nice song, though.... | 28-02-2005 22:12 rouGhdrAft15 | 26 posts
| sleetman has a point...but does it really matter how the songs were written? just so long as amazing songs like this exist. | 01-03-2005 15:08 sleetman | 17 posts
| That's exactly what I was trying to say: nobody gives a rat's ass about the lyrics, if the melody's right and, to some extent, vica versa. | 07-03-2005 14:09 thegodfather11 | 5 posts

holy cow..i have to say this is one of my favorite oasis songs..they've done such a good job on the instrumentals and everything..i love it! i mean i would never get sick of this song..i mean 7 min goes fast! and stop arguing what the song is about..nobody probably knows i mean like the people before me said..they were totally wasted when they wrote this song..so they probably don't even know what they were intending this song to be about..but in my opinion..who cares! great song! i love it! | 09-03-2005 15:58 Coombes | 1,334 posts
| why does everyone assume oasis were 'totally wasted' when they wrote this song ?
were ye in the room when noel strummed the first few bars or wrote down the first lines ?? no.
alright, they may have done drugs etc etc but thats not to say theres no meaning to this song. you can hear it when you listen to it.... this song came from somewhere within noel and who can deny liam's hearfelt singing of the lyrics.
this song is not just a bunch of words thrown together in a haze of cocaine and alcohol... it obvious means something to them, more than they'd like to admit ! | 19-03-2005 23:39 PixiePunkBiatch | 43 posts

| this song is beautiful. the phrase "champagne supernova" alone is poetic and beautiful. i adore oasis. i agree that this about the best times in your life, and looking back at them.[offtopic] it may have some refrences to drugs, but i think it's mainly about memories of friendships and people that they had in the past. | 26-04-2005 05:24 aTHiNa3174 | 1,430 posts
