Song lyrics
Think about the love inside the strength of heart
Think about the heroes saving life in the dark
Climbing higher through the fire, time was running out
Never knowing you weren't going to be coming down alive
But you still came back for me
You were strong and you believed

Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Be strong. Believe.
Be strong. Believe.

Think about the chance I never had to say
Thank you for giving up your life that day
Never fearing, only hearing voices calling out
Let it all go, the life that you know, just to bring them down alive
And you still came back for me
You were strong and you believed

Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Be strong. Believe.

Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Be strong. Believe.

(Again today, we take into our hearts and minds those who
perished on this site one year ago, and also those who came
to toil in the rubble to bring order out of chaos, to help us
make sense of our despair)

Wanna hold my wife when I get home
Wanna tell the kids they'll never know how much I love to see them smile
Wanna make a change right here right now
Wanna live a life like you somehow
Wanna make your sacrifice worthwhile

Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Be strong. Believe.

Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
Be strong. Believe.

Think about the love inside the strength of heart
Think about the heroes saving life in the dark
Think about the chance I never had to say
Thank you for giving up your life that day

(The world will little note, nor long remember what we say
here, but it can never forget what they did here)

Man, on the first page there was a lot of bitching about this song showing the weakness of the U.S. and how 9/11 affected us, when in reality its more of an "ode" to the firefighters and rescue workers that lost their lives. It's not jsut a song about 9/11 and some poorly thrown together grouping of angsty feelings, but rather a thank you to the firefighters and rescue workers both living and dead. Respect it for more than its catchy violin work and chorus. Thank You.

yellowcard performed this song at the warped tour in new york yesterday. they said that because 9/11 happened in new york and they wrote this song specifically for it, that they should play it. its amazing live. just thought id share

Someone earlier said something to the effect of "It's nice to hear a 911 song that doesn't talk about the U.S. 'putting a boot up your ass'". I disagree. Those are the songs that inspire national pride, patriotism. Songs like "Believe" sound great, but only inspire regret. Truth of the matter is, Yellowcard's a fantastic band, but they are also ULTRA-liberal, and it's a shame that they write songs like this.

Caveman, if I could only put into words how much of an inconsiderate and heartless ass your last comment made you. 3 or 4 posts up I commented and I'll be damned if you're gonna bad mouth a song that is one giant 'thank you' letter to those who lost their lives, i.e., the firefighters. This song shows no weakness or has anything to do with Yellowcard's viewpoint on terrorism or any of that bullshit. And for all of those who agree with caveman, read the fucking lyrics before you post on this song.

This song is one of the best songs I have ever heard, I think it's right up there with "Freebird". The violen is one of the best parts of the song. This song is also inspiring. It inspires me to stay strong and believe. Also, it makes me want to help people. So thanks Yellowcard for making this beautiful song.

When it comes to the song "Believe" it doesn't matter what political party you represnet or whether you feel that Yellowcard is "liberal" or not. The point is you should accept the song for what it is, music. This song isn't anti-bush, it's pro-freedom and about being thankful for the men and women protecting us at home from fires and away from war. To CTOGZ, you have no compassion in your heart if you feel that a 30 something year old parent of three should "have there time to die and accept it" just because they are going into burning buildings to save peoples lives. Think about that when and if your house catches fire. I know you are from the UK and didn't experience 9/11 personnaly, but what if an attack like that had happened in your country and you, Go forbid, were in one of the attacked buildings and man or woman came running into the flames just to save your life without even knowing your name. Does that mean they deserve to die? Overall the point is it doesn't matter where you are from or what nationality you are, but either way you should count your blessings because you are alive to say that.

Commitment_Babe, I could not have said it better. I am shocked by what people have said about this song. I think that it is a great song and it shows how brave the firefighters had to have been, i wouldnt have wanted to run into a building that had been crashed into and saved peoples lives that i didn't know. I believe that this song is wonderfully written and no one could have made a better song. About the other 9/11 songs, aka all of the country ones, those are supporting patriotism and are trying to bring the country together. I hope that no one has to go thru this experience ever again and all i have to say is this is a greeeeeat song.

affected you a postive way? it gave george bush an excuse to invade afghanistan and build... why what a surprise!! oil pipe, oh and iraq, to... oh ... oil again! at the expense of thousands more lifes than that lost through 9/11. now most of iraq is without clean drinking water and eletricity, and people are actually worse off now than they were under saddam hussain. how can you call this positive?

RisingStar, you blind liberal fuck. You and your MTV can go suck it. Blood for oil my ass. We went into Afghansitan and Iraq because they waged war and we we're obliged to eliminate the terroist threat not only against us but the the Iraqi people, i.e., Saddam Hussein. Historically, we have set ourselves up as the global police force of the world simply because we are the only nation strong enough and wealthy enough to do so; in turn, it was our obligation to go into Iraq and Afghanistan. And if you honestly believe that the people were better off before, you are easily one of te most ignorant people in the world. Running water? HAH! Because the indoor plumbing in Iraq was oh so effective pre-war. And Hussein being better than the U.S. presence. A leader who openly tortured his fellow countrymen and leaders. A man who allowed his sons to torture Olympic athletes who didn't perform to his standards. A man who waged chemical warfare on his own Kurdish citizens to the north of Iraq. You compare THIS to the liberation brought on by the U.S. invasion and say that Hussein was a better influence for the country? You better reevaluate where you place your ideals and look at the bigger picture here, cause your description of the war and this song sounds like your trying to explain a Picasso. I urge you other users, THINK before you post.

my mom was recently deployed to Iraq in october 2004, this song gave me hope. not only hope that i will see my mom again, but that the US will become strong and that the iraqi people will be free. so many people have posted that songs about September 11 make them feel sad, depressed, united, or whatever, but sit down and think. today so many people are dying in the middle east post September 11...but the lyrics to this song just put me at ease as im going through a very difficult stage in my life..thank you yellowcard ((warp tour englishtown rocked!))
