Anthony origionally wrote the song as a poem, and didnt want the others to see it, however, the producer they were working with at the time, Rick Rubin, saw it when they were in that haunted house recording bloodsugarsexmagik. and thought he should show it to the other guys...he did and they instantly came up with the music and thats that.

i saw that somone had writhen that anthony stopt doing drugs after hillel died but that is not true he didn´t stop untill a couple of years a go ! bu t i truly fucking love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
actually he did stop after hillel died...you should read his book scar tissue...he relapsed and continued to do so until he finally came clean and got properly clean about 2001 era. just before they made by the way.
