Song lyrics
Wa-mono
There's me, there's you (hoko-ten)
In a pedestrian paradise
Where the catwalk got its claws (meow)
A subculture, in a kaleidoscope of fashion
Prowl the streets of Harajuku (irasshaimase)

Super lovers, tell me where you got yours
(At the super lovers store)
Yohji Yamamoto
I'm hanging with the locals

Where the catwalk got its claws
All you fashion know-it-alls
With your underground malls
In the world of Harajuku
Putting on a show, when you dress up in your clothes
Wild hair color and cell phones
Your accessories are dead on

[chorus 2x]
Harajuku girls, you got the wicked style
I like the way that you are
I am your biggest fan, oh

Harajuku girls
I'm looking at you girls
You're so original girls
You got the look that makes you stand out
Harajuku girls, I’m looking at you girls
You mix and match it girls
You dress so fly and just parade around (arigato)

I'm fascinated by the Japanese fashion scene
Just an American girl in the Tokyo streets
My boyfriend bought me a Hysteric Glamour shirt
They’re hard to find in the States, got me feeling couture

What’s that you got on
Is it Comme Des Garcons
A Vivienne Westwood can’t go wrong
Mixed up with second-hand clothes
(Let's not forget about John Galliano, no)
Flip the landscape when Nigo made A Bathing Ape
I’ve got expensive taste (oh well)
Guess I’d better save up (cho takai)

[chorus 2x]

Work it, express it
Live it, command your style
Create it, design it
Now let me see you work it
Create it, design it
Now let me see you work it

You bring style and color all around the world (you harajuku girls)
You bring style and color all around the world (you harajuku girls)

Your look is so distinctive, like DNA
Like nothing I've ever seen in the USA
Your underground culture, visual grammar
The language of your clothing, is something to encounter
A ping-pong match between eastern and western
Did you see your inspiration in my latest collection
Just wait till you get your little hands on L.A.M.B.
Cause it's (super kawaii), that means (super cute in Japanese)
The streets of Harajuku are your catwalk
Bishoujo, you're so vogue
That's what you drop

Cho saikou, Harajuku girls
(And that’s what you drop, and that’s what you drop)
Cho saikou, Harajuku girls
(I'm your big fan, why Stefani, you like-a me?)

Harajuku girls [chorus in background]
Harajuku girls

Style detached from content
A fatal attraction to cuteness
Style is style
Fashion is fashion
Girl, you got style

l.a.m.b. stands for love angel music baby . it took me a while to figure out! why love angel music baby i have no clue shattered hope, just because the japaese wasnt perfect doesnt make it a bad song i think it rocks, as does compllette de la butte, even thought im not 100% on what it means. music is more than lyrics, and its possible to appreciate music without knowing what is being said (or sung, for that matter)
lova angel music baby!

Harajuku girls are girls/women in a part of Tokyo in Japan- they dress very interestingly- I can totally see why Gwen likes the way they dress!
you can google it - just type "harajuku girls" in, and click images

WTF is with Gwen's Obsession with Harajuku Girls? In just about every song she mentions them! If you look at the cover she even made Harajuku records... Gwen you went WAY overboard on your whole album with the Harajuku theme...

I really like Gwen Stefani's songs... even her No Doubt songs. I love her Love Angel Music Baby cd, also. I also noticed that someone said that it took them a while to figure out what L A M B stood for and that they didn't know why it stood for that.... well if you listen to her other songs, the four Harajuku girls that she is singing about names are Love Angel Music Baby. Listen to her Rich Girl song.
"I'd get me four Harajuku girls to. Inspire me and they'd come to my rescue. I'd dress them wicked, I'd give them names, Love, Angel, Music, Baby hurry up and come and save me. "
In the music video, it shows you which girl she is talking about when she says their name.
I think Gwen Stefani is great. I love her unique style.

Look, you don't have to judge the fact that Gwen loves the Harajuku Girls. If you don't like them, then don't listen to the any of the songs which give them credit. Have you ever been in a situation where you were obsessed with something or somebody and all your friends or other people sat there and cut you down or teased you about it, making you feel hurt or angered or just plain annoyed? Well, just because she's an artist don't mean she could feel that way. I know how it feels. I like Japanese music a lot...and many times my cousins or friends would add some rather annoying or hurtful comments, how I wouldn't know a certain song just because I listen to Japanese and stuff. So, I don't understand if most of you say you are true fans, but sit there and criticize on her likings and obsessions. If you were true to her, you would respect what she likes..Sure, you have your opinions and that's cool. Just think before you go and criticize all out like that. All in all, I think this is an amazing song! I love you Harajuku Girls!

Duh. Some of you people can be preeeeeeetty stupid.

It's called a "theme." Have you never seen that in an album or are you just retarded when it comes to music? Stoopids. The Harajuku are on her jewel case. She has paintings featured in her jewel case. Can't you people recognize a damned theme when you see it? Jeez, what's the problem here? How annoying. People should nag 50 Cent about his fetishes (way too much information!), which pop in every song he sings.

Anyway, the song is good. Just because she uses some cute Japanese terms doesn't mean the song is any worse of a song or that Gwen is somehow a wannabe. As an anime fan, I know what most of those terms mean. I think the song is cute. Jeez, some people can get so worked up over nothing.

It's too long and the Japanese cutesy-ness gets a bit irritating after a while. But hey, I like it overall.

BTW: "Yoji Yamamoto" is a name. It's capitalized if you look in the lyric booklet from her album. It's a name.

ok, i get the whole theme thing, but you can take a theme to far, although harajuku girls are very cool. and also i get the whole l.a.m.b thing, but why would you call a person love angel music or baby? and is buying and owning people, ie the harajuku girls she mentions in rich girl, not slavery? and correct me if im wrong but slavery is pretty illegal.
but appart from the whole legality/taking a theme too far/genral confusion over the l.a.m.b thing.... its a good song!

Is Yamamoto maybe a designer? there are other references to foshion so meebs. i want a Harajuku enterage! Do u think they like following her around, do they get payed for this? When did she get them? I used 2 really like oriental stuff. Stefanye you are so right, what would the WYWF video be without the Alice theme, n Rich Girl without all th pirate stuff? It makes music more interesting, tho i must admit those girls are way too high-pitched for me. Love this neway!
