One of the individuals in the relationship is tired and numb, while the other is attached and "afraid to lose control". The one who is tired and numb wants out of the relationship because he/she is caught in an "undertow" (imagine being stuck under ice). The other one is realizing his faults, but it is too late: "Is everything what you want me to be?" and the other replies "No".
