In a way, this makes you realize how strong love is. No matter what, there are some things more powerful than what we could have ever imagined.
"I'll love her 'til I die"
"Clinging to his picture for dear life."
You can't help who you fall inlove with. There are a lot of powerful things out there, guns, war, power, but no matter what, love overrules any and all of the above. |

| I have tryed to commit suicide twice and both times i was saved by either a family member or my girlfriend and after hearing this song I see now how much pain you can put on people that you thought never cared about you , that really did. This is one of my favorite songs. |

| I first heard this song about the time a relative died from alcoholism. I know about 50 years ago someone broke his heart and he never got over it. I always thought "He Stopped Loving Her Today" would be the song I'd remember him by, but this is better.
Concerning suicide/alcoholism debate going on here, I never thought Brad meant suicide by gun. I thought it was slow suicide by alcohol. (I've seen both: two close people to me killed themselves in the past year, so I thought I'd have been particularly sensitive to this issue, but I really never thought about it that way.)
The song is hauntingly beautiful. |

This is a beautiful song and with all the evil in this world, it's nice that so many people's hearts can still be touched by the lyrics to this song. Not that anyone needs a lecture, but I agree with the few of you that have made mention of the fact that you have to be careful with other people's feelings. You never know what impact you have on them, whether it's love or just some interaction with that person. My heart aches for each of you that has lost a loved one thru suicide or some other means. I have to say I was confused with the lyrics (I like understanding the music I listen to!) but whether they died from alcohol or a gun, the message is still the same. I don't think this song glorifies suicide in any way; it just states the truth of the situation. My heart has been broken before but I finally found my soulmate when I wasn't looking. Have faith!! |

How weird I just searched for the lyrics and this song comes on CMT as I'm writting! Weird! I absoultly love this song! I never thought how sad it is until I watched the video! It is very sad but such a great video and song! I think you really have to se the video to understand the lyrics, because you wonder why he killed himself. No everytime I see this video or hear it I start crying because it's so Romeo and Juliet! |

this is a song where I can go out to my pool late at night, lay in the hammock and sing it about forty billion times to calm myself down. Alison Kraus has an amazing voice and I dont like the brad guy but what the song be without him. LOVE it. |

I must say this song is one of my absolute favorites. the melody and the lyrics are so real and so there, it brings me to tears everytime i hear it. i don't think there is any song out there that is better. and i also think that Brad Paisley couldn't of picked a better person to sing this song with him. Allison Krauss has a phenominal voice and it really brings caracter to this song. |

| Hott Jazzy 13 Posted something back on page 2 of this discussion's that hit home. If you haven't read that post yet go read it and come back to this one.
This song was recently sent to me by an ex of mine. She left me for someone else and like the man in this song I cannot get her out of my mind. I have tried to forget her but everywhere I go and everything I do keeps bringing me back. Its been almost a year now and I still cannot find my way out of this. I have read all of the other posts here by people saying how terrible suicide is. Those people have never been in love, those people have never felt the pain of having someone "put them out like the burning end of a midnight cigarette". Back on page 2 Spoonie69 said “Hang in there and it'll all be great” Buddy you have NO clue ...sorry.
I know this is probably not the best place to do this but before you judge people like me just try for an instant to think about what this pain is like. |
