And I'm not a fan of Kelly Clarkson's. Everything sounds the same these days. Blah Blah Blah. Originality is key. I think everyone forgot that.

I have finally concluded that it's about her dad that is possibly a crimanal, but doens't want to be and now she's scarred becasue he probably was always gone or out robbing and then one day he got shot by police. Now she's even more scarred. At least that's what I got from it. What's your veiw of it? all in all, I feel it's a very good song, although sad. Everytime I sing it I feel like crying

4 posts	I don't think it's about a breakup or a spouse, becasue it says "I was so young, you should have know better than to lean on me" If it was a spouse then she couldn't have been too young. I feel it's about a father if not a father figure.

It's played too much for what it is, and all it does it make people think about their problems. I've resorted to XM radio, because singers like this fill the FM radio waves now. She can have credit for helping to ruin modern society in my opinion. When she picks up a decent instrument, learns to play it, and writes some better songs, I'll probably consider her less of a Brittany Spears clone, and more of a Avril Lavigne follower.

I grew up in a family that sounds like it was many many times worse than anything she went through...and while it isn't about the severity of the violence in the home (it's all very bad), there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Songs like this however, instead of saying things like 'domestic violence is a bummer, but I'll go on and I'll do better,' it says 'domestic violence is a bummer, you've messed me up, I hate you I hate you and your the reason I have the short comings I do.' Why listen that? It's not a new topic, she doesn't handle it very well, instead of older and wiser she comes off as selfish, immature and worst of all, silly. And you do anti-domestic violence movements a great disservice when you make the issue sound silly.
