1 posts	rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal I have read a lot of posts debating whether or not Kelly wrote the song or not. First of all, you can only copyright lyrics and the melody. The chord changes are not copyrightable. She obviously wrote the lyrics and probably came up with the melody, which makes her the writer of the song - however - the producers most definately helped with the final form of the song and the instrumental track - that is their job. Because the song would not be half of what it is without the work of the producers - they are given co-writer credit so that they can get paid a share of the royalties that the song generates. It is only fair. We all know Kelly can sing, and that she is very talented, and working with quality producers who can take a song "skeleton" and make it into a hit is the benefit of what she has been able to accomplish in her relatively short career. To disbelieve that she has the ability to write a quality song such as this one is to seriously underestimate her actual ability and talent. This is why she is still around - because she does have actual talent and ability - and the people in the industry who actually know and make the decisions realize this. Give her a break, you will still be hearing this song in ten years - it really is that good, formulaic, but very good.

The song is one of Clarkson's most personal as she originally wrote the lyrics when she was sixteen years old to deal with her emotional pain at the time. Clarkson has stated that although she has grown to overcome her pain through God, she can still relate to the pain of "Because of You". This song has proved to be a world-wide hit. Years later when she met Moody and Hodges, Clarkson asked if they could write songs with her. She asked them to help her polish "Because of You" for the Breakaway album, but said that she would understand if they disliked the song and wanted to write a new song with her. Instead, both Moody and Hodges were impressed with the song, and along with Clarkson, they polished it into its final form.

Its so true and it makes me realize how prestious love is and how much you can hurt someone from one mistake. I hope that this lesson can get to as many people as possible before you face my mistakes. My only hope is that the people in my life, in particular old and new lovers, can have this benefit just as I have.

Never give up, there is always something better. If you feel hurt remember that your better than that. No matter what you have done or what is done to you, it will pass. Ive been in times and places where I knew things would never get better, but they will. Always. Never live for anyone else, never lose yourself in others, and never take scantuary of society. Immediately, I could relate and knew exactly what her lyrics meant and where she hoped to take her fans. As an adult child that suffered abuse in the form of emotional, physical, and verbal at the hands of my alcoholic father, I can relate more than I wanted to relate. Immediately, I began to cry thinking about the similarities between her life and my own through our childhood. The pain came rushing back slamming against my heart. I brace myself each day against the memories of my youth but regardless, they manage to sneak back when least expected. It is my home that everyone who sees this video or listens to its lyrics will learn that parental fighting does affect their children. I've seen other music videos which do the same thing: change the throust of the song itself by showing some sort of reconciliation or redemption which the song itself doesn't even hint at. The video should've ended with Kelly standing there wan and nearly-shattered by the crushing emotions she had just vocalized: that's what the song is really about. Why do we Americans have such a hard time accepting that unrelenting tragedy DOES occur? That happy endings don't always happen? They had to add a couple of lines to "Gone with the Wind" so that that movie didn't end with Rhett Butler's "Frankly, m'dear, I don't give a d--n"--only because American audiences would not accept that Rhett was leaving and never coming back. So far as I know, Kelly Clarkson's parents divorced and never reconciled: why make a video about how that affected her which totally changes what really happened? Sorry folks: only a scant handful of folks have ever died and then come back from the dead. And most divorces and break-ups end up being final. Weep about it, mour your losses, but don't pretend there's some way to go back and fix it. The power of this song is in it's lyrics: the singer's affirmation that the sadness of a past relationship has left her changed. The video should have supported that message. Love the song, hate the video.

For me its about my step dad who bailed out and he got the house and the suburban and broke my beautiful mothers heart. But the song is amazing and the vocals are great! Great job again Kelly!
