 Whereas the very controversed eighth season of Star Academy will start on September 19, with 2 godparents, Rihanna & Christophe Maé, the singer explains why he accepted such a proposal...
According to "Le Parisien", Christophe Maé, who will encourage the contestants of "Star Academy" eighth season from September 19, following Johnny Hallyday, Florent Pagny, Céline Dion & Yannick Noah, shouldn't have hesitated before accepting the proposal.
"I did through my record company. At first, I was scared of being in the jury. So I thought a little, because I didn't want to teach. Godfather is something else. I want to share my musical experience with contestants. I'm really proud of it. When you see those who came before me, Johnny, Céline Dion, Kylie Minogue, I don't feel like my career is great. Am I paid ? Yes I am. But I won't tell you how much... In fact, it's a symbol. The show is put into question" he said.
Before "Le Roi-Soleil" & his first album Mon Paradis, "C'Est Ma Terre" singer had already participated to a TV show, "Graines De Star" on M6... "Yes, I've been in "Graines De Star" 10 years ago. At Montpellier's Zénith. And I was gone unnoticed. In front of me, there was a 12-year-old girl, she suprised everyone while singing the song from "Titanic". Me, I badly covered Jamiroquai & didn't do better. After this show, nobody called me."
Should Christophe Maé have been a contestant in "Star Academy" ? "I'd have liked to sing in front of Ray Charles or my idol Stevie Wonder. But being filmed non-stop, while I brush my teeth, it could've been worse. I'm too pudical. However, I don't criticise the show. I don't like this snob style given to "Star Academy". People tell you : "What is "Star Academy" ? I never watch it". Everybody knows what it is. Nolwenn Leroy, Jenifer & Olivia Ruiz made their way. I thought about what I heard during "Le Roi-Soleil" : "If you make a musical, you'll be dead after"" the singer said to Emmanuel Marolle.
Besides, Rihanna will be the godmother for "Star Academy" eighth season, on September 19 on TF1.
Christophe Maé will release his double live album Comme À La Maison on September 29. He will be on acoustic concerts from November 6 to 10 at Paris' Palais Des Sports, maybe he will invite the contestants of the eighth season...
