 Christophe is back, 7 years after his album Comm' Si La Terre Penchait. Aimer Ce Que Nous Sommes, with good critics, includes duets with actresses Isabelle Adjani & Sara Forestier.
At 63, Christophe, "Aline" & "Mots Bleus" singer, is back with a new album, Aimer Ce Que Nous Sommes, 7 years after the previous one, Comm' Si La Terre Penchait, released in 2001. And a come-back will also be done on stage : Christophe will perform on July 14 in an exceptionnal concert at Paris' Eiffel Tower.
Aimer Ce Que Nous Sommes includes 14 new songs, a well-done work like the singer's personality, with collaborations by Isabelle Adjani, Sara Forestier, Daniel Filippacchi & Florian Zeller.
"I made this album so, when we put a stone, it must be the good stone. I wanted this to be with no time, so it will please me again in 4 years" Christophe said.
At first, Christophe was a 20-year-old boy who drew on the beach the face of his ex-girlfriend, crying for Aline & selling 1 million 7" in 1965, re-released 15 years later. However, after nice songs like "Les Marionnettes", Christophe, a fan of Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Bill Haley, Little Richard, Elvis Presley & Serge Gainsbourg, slightly went into the 70's & discovered synthesizers, closer to Michel Polnareff & Gérard Manset than to ye-ye singers. Albums were Les Paradis Perdus (1973), with lyrics written by Jean-Michel Jarre, Les Mots Bleus (1974), Samouraï (1976) & Le Beau Bizarre (1978). At the same time, he was addicted to drugs & alcohol. After a compilation with covers of 40's/50's songs, Clichés D'Amour (1983), including a French version of "Bésame Mucho" ("Dernier Baiser"), he went out of the spotlight until 1996 with Bevilacqua, his real name. For the first time, he wrote lyrics himself. Former "Lennonian" who turned to David Bowie & Alan Vega, he writes, composes & paints, with his strange voice. In 2001, his album Comm' Si La Terre Penchait showed his dandy image.
