New Album, Tour Prove CKY Can't Be Killed

CKY has survived.

Through label switches, tour bus brawls and year-plus-long breaks the band, which formed in West Chester, Pennsylvania in 1998, still inspires some of the most rabidly loyal fans any rock act could ever hope for.

And imagine how thrilled they were when the group's latest release, Carver City, came out May 19, marking its first studio album since 2005.

Heavy on theme and short on pretense, the record is certainly CKY's most musically ambitious, bringing the listener on a strange, layered journey into a fictitious ex-tourist town on the Jersey shore where just about everything has taken a turn for the worse.

Ironically, that's the direct opposite of CKY's current reality, touring for the first time in almost two years and up off the proverbial mat like so many of the skateboarders and stuntmen in the famed video series the band shares a name with.

On Wednesday CKY took the stage at the Opera House, playing to a room that featured what has to be one of the most enthusiastic 'front rows' the venerable venue has seen of late.

Before the show, frontman Deron Miller and bassist Matt Deis sat down for a dimly lit, bizarrely captured chat in the balcony, talking about Carver City and how it feels to be on the road again supporting it.
