Rarely has a band that began its march to success come as far as Copper has in such a short time. While Copper formed in 2000, it was upon graduating from the University of Tennessee in 2004 that they hit the road in earnest and realized something special was happening. They have played almost 300 shows since then, selling out venues in markets such as Springfield, Illinois and Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Copper has also supported Crossfade, Breaking Benjamin, Saliva, Seether, 30 Seconds To Mars, and The Exies on tour.

In 2005, Copper was selected as the "Greatest Band We've Never Heard" in the J. D'Addario/Guitar.com/Fuse TV "We're Listening" contest, which drew nearly 3,000 bands and 41,000 individual voters. Copper's song, "Turn," from their current self-released album, The Fragile Fall, won the judges over in a big way. As the grand prize winner, Copper received an endorsement deal from J. D'Addario, an appearance on Fuse TV's live "Daily Download," full-page print ads, and J. D'Addario products including gear from D'Addario, Evans drumheads, and Planet Waves cables and accessories.

Radio has also embraced Copper, as the first single, "By Now," from The Fragile Fall went to Active and Modern Rock radio and charted almost immediately. "Turn" was the second single, and the response was so great that the band had trouble keeping up with demand. At WNFZ in Knoxville, "Turn" was the number one requested song for weeks running, as well as in the Top 5 & Top 10 most requested in a number of cities including Nashville and Lincoln, Nebraska. "Turn" also registered on Radio & Record's Active Most Added chart for two straight weeks, and reached #48 on the Active Rock chart.

The Fragile Fall was produced by award-winning producer Travis Wyrick, and is the follow-up to Copper's debut, Exchange. And as they continue to write and record new material, it's clear that this is not a band with a complacent bone in its collective body. "We want to play as much as we can and write better and better songs," says Wallen. "We never just want to settle for something. We're always working hard to improve our music." As a result, Copper's talent and drive is bound to pay off in more precious metals—namely gold and platinum.
