Corinne Bailey Rae was born on February 26, 1979 in Leeds, England. She started music in school, playing the violin & singing. She also sang in her school's choir. At 15, she founded her first band, Helen, all female & sounding metal. The band signed to a record company but the bassist got pregnant & Helen disbanded.
Corinne continued studying & worked as a dresser in a jazz club. There, she fell in love with that music style. She also met saxophonist Jason Rae, who became her husband in 2001. Corinne started working on her own songs until she got remarked by Mark Hill, Craig David's producer. Her first self-titled album was released in 2006. Soul & touching, it was the revelation. |
