I remember it well, the first time that I saw
Your head round the door
Cause mine stopped working
I remember it well, there was wet in your hair
I was stood in the stair
And time stopped moving
Want you here tonight, want you here
Cause I can't believe what I found
Want you here tonight, want you here
Nothing is taking me down, down, down
I remember it well, taxied out of a storm
To watch you perform
And my ships were sailing
I remember it well, I was stood in your line
And your mouth, your mouth, your mind
Want you here tonight, want you here
Cause I can't believe what I found
Want you here tonight, want you here
Nothing is taking me down, down, down
Cept you my love
Cept you, my love
Come all ye lost
Dive into moss
An I hope, that my sanity covers the cost
To remove, the stain of my love
Paper maché
Oooh, Come all ye reborn
Blow off my horn
I'm driving real hard
This is love this is porn
God would forgive me
But I, I whip myself scorn, scorn
An I wanna hear what you have to say about me
Hear if you're gonna live without me
I wanna hear what you want
I remember december
An I wanna hear what you have to say about me
Hear if you're gonna live without me
I wanna hear what you want
What the hell do you want? (spoken)

vocal such juxtaposition in this song, about a break-up, the first part with lisa reminiscing "i remember it well....", and then Damien's explosion of anger- "i wanna hear how you're gonna live without me"

vocal As with most of damien Rice's songs, there's an extensive use of instruments, the acoustic guitar is very effective in setting a regretful tone for the first part of the song which is complemented by the way in which that part is sung, its a bit of lament. The second part is made powerful not only with the damien rice's singing but with the introduction of the drum kit and the urgent strings in the background. Damiens apparant anger is kind of vindicated by the initial tones of regret. One criticism is that the song fades out, it needs a stronger ending and the guitar line at the end leaves the listener anticipating a reprieve of the stiring chorus, even so, This is a cracking piece of work.
This song is incredible. At the beginning her voice is beautiful and then the whole song changes pace and becomes so intense. The lyrics, music, everything about this song is so powerful. I love it.

vocal I think this is, so far, my absolute fave song by Damien Rice. Like many have pointed out before me, Lisa Hannigan's voice is amazing, and it blends very well with Damien's. Damien's songs all make me think of a Bright Eyes in the rough, especially this one. When I first heard the line "I remember December" I was instantly struck by how much he sounded like Conor. The way the words "needed you" blends so well into the ending cacophony of music is also a stunning resemblance to Conor's tardemark music.
Actually I only have one complaint to make about his vocal preformance; I think that the ending "What the hell do you want", the one that's spoken, is too rushed. If he would just have slowed down there, the song would have reached perfection in my eyes.

vocal Everyone's already said it. This song is great, and definitely one of *my* favourites of him. I love it, the soft beginning with the powerful and strong end, just lovely.
