this has to be one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard in my entire life. i still cry evertime i hear it. the music and the lyrics are just so beautiful, and i love the girl that sings with him, she has such a beautiful voice. now this is what i call true music in its purist form.  |

OMG! This is the best song EVER. I totally agree, u would think that repeating i cant't take my eyes off of you would be tedious and bllah, but it's so beautiful. He takes his time saying those words that you know he means it so much.
The cello is such a beautiful instrument, it just does something to your heart. |

COMPLETELY AGREE!!! I get chills every time I hear this song. It's on the promos for the movie Closer which makes me cry every time I see because the words are so beautiful and we'd all like to think that love will last forever but a movie like Closer (about infidelity) almost kills the meaning of the song... until you hear the last line of the song "until I find someone new" doesn't this seem like the search for love is never ending?

Absolutely, devastatingly beautiful!  damien rice renders a heartfelt performance that leaves one lost in the bewildering realms of love with all its joy and sadness... MY FAVORITE SONG for a long time i'm sure!! the moment i saw the trailer for "Closer" on tv n heard this i was mesmerized... btw the movie is excellent too go catch it! does anyone think the song suits the movie pretty well? i think it captures the essence of how the characters fall head over heels in love, or more likely infatuation becos they "find someone new" again n again. Also, the film focuses alot on their faces n their emotions, which befits the "i can't take my eyes off you" lines |

I love this song so much too! What I hate though is that there is no soundtrack for the movie Closer. Does anyone know if there is ever going to be one? And would anyone happen to know who sings the song in the previews that says "Come on Closer" I've already looked at those in the database on here.

Well firstly id like to say that i agree with ye that this is possible the most beautiful song ever!! But the only thing thats anoying me lately is that everyone sudenly thinks that there the ultimate Damien Rice fan cos they seen some film called closer(which i never heard of till reading this message board) and they thought it was a nice song. I mean could they even name like 3 other Damien rice songs?? Do they even have any of his albums?? If they did then they would release that this songs been around since 2001!!! 4 YEARS AGO!!  |

This is nice song but I don't like how he ends it with "I'll find sombody new" it sounds out of place especially after he's said "I can't take my eyes/mind off you" so many times

| i think thats the best line in the song. its nearly inaudible at the end but i think it finishes the song brilliantly. this isnt just a love song, but an unrequited love song .... he so in love with this girl whom he just cant have and the only way he'll ever get over her is to find somebody new. |

| i agree it is the perfect way to end the song.........I also agree with the person that is getting annoyed with everyone talking about the closer film because ths song has been around for ages and to be honest i think the film taints the song slightly because it takes away some of its meaning as everyone just starts relating it to the film. |
