Day26's Day26 review

Day 26 (The guys from the recent Making The Band show) along with the boss man Diddy present their self titled album “Day 26”. Even though their female counterparts Danity Kane have sold more albums to date, this album is second to none.
“I’m The Reason” starts the album off with more of an up tempo feel with every one of the guys swapping lead while being backed up by the others in the group. “Got Me Going” is a fiery track produced by Mario Winans. The fellas let it be known that they are ready for the ladies with this up tempo track. “In My Bed” features Q, Brian, & Willie more so than the others while they ride the beat over energetic drums. “Silly Love” features Q taking the lead with his band mates backing him up very nicely . The album starts to slow down at “Co Star” where you start to really see the definite chemistry they have together. “Come In” is the song where one may start to make the comparisons with Diddy’s former artist “112”. “What It Feels Like” is one of their ballads that offer that signature “slow jam” for the frequent R&B listeners. The comparisons don’t stop with just 112 respectively. “Since You’ve Been Gone” has more of a “Jodeci” feel to it, with the high vocal tone of Q and Brian overbearing the rest of the band mates, but it works with this song.
Day 26 shows appreciation to their inspirations with “If It Wasn’t For You”. The slow jam ballad “Don’t Fight The Feeling” has the fellas finally stepping into their own light. No comparisons can be made here; they embodied the emotion of this Brian Cox produced song perfectly. “Ain’t Going” feature label mates Danity Kane features both bands letting everybody know that “We’re Not Going No Where and We’re Gonna Have You Wanting More”.
This song lacks substance but serves its purpose of being more of a dance track. “Exclusive” closes the cd out produced by Grammy award winning Brian Cox, one of the standout songs from the show. For a fairly new group each one of the members gel together well. Although at times it’s apparent that they are rough around the edges, It’s a breathe of fresh air to hear a completely solid album these days. This is one of those albums. Let’s hope Day 26 can repeat the quality of this album for their next album and avoid the Sophomore jinx.
