vocal I don't think it is just about a couple growing apart. They are growing older. The guy mentions his wrinkles and the young boy that is within. "December sun is setting" I think could possibly be referring to the end of their lives...since December is the end of the year. And the part about 'landlock lovers long for the sea' (I think that is the lyric) is about how he and his wife are in love, but their life is so routine by now that sometimes he wishes for some kind of change. The part about sleeping like brothers on a hotel bed isn't showing their emotional distance, it is just showing their confort with eachother, that after all these years they no longer are intimate in the bed or cuddle while they sleep. Well, that's my take on it anyway.
