After learning that Warner Bros company no longer wanted to make Musicals, she left the Warner Bros company and decided to work for the MGM company who was at that time making movie Musicals, she was in the movie "Three Little Words" in which she was nominated for Golden Globe Awards, "Two Weeks with Love", "Mr. Imperium."
Then in 1952 she worked with the Hollywood actor Gene Kelly on the box office hit movie "Singing in the Rain" and it was the first time she danced in a movie, something she never did before. When "Singing in the Rain" was released in 1952 in movie theaters, it was box office success and she became one of the most famous actress in Hollywood. She was also in her first broadway play "Best Foot Forward" in 1953.

On December 23, 2016. Debbie's daughter Carrie Fisher stopped breathing on her way home on a airplane flight from London to Los Angeles. The pilot made an emergency landing and Carrie was immediately taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Hospital and was placed on life support. Debbie went over to the Hospital to be with her daughter. 4 days later on December 27, 2016. Carrie Fisher died which resulted in Debbie being heartbroken and she thanked the online fans of Star Wars on Facebook for her daughters support. later on, she suffered a stroke and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Hospital, the next day on December 28, 2016. Debbie Reynolds died from a stroke and stress.
Carrie Fisher would be cremated while Debbie Reynolds was buried in the Los Angeles graveyard. And a private funeral was held in their honor.
