Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting
I’m through with doubt
There’s nothing left for me to figure out
I’ve paid a price
And I’ll keep paying
I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should
I know you said
Can’t you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it
I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don’t mind sayin’
It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over
I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should
I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should
*(What it is you think I should)*
Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting

I first heard this song posted on someone's myspace page and listened to it like 20 times in that sitting. This is without question their best song today. I love how they're coming back fighting. I think it was bull that they received so much crap, they had every right to voice their opinion about the war, this is America right? It's funny how the same people who made their lives hell, are now opposed to the war, it's freaking hilarious! I happen to think that this song works great this way, It probably would be better if they lost the whole country vibe to it, but I understand that they are country artist and it's their thing. I know that they've had cross over hits in the past with wide open spaces, cowboy take me away, and landslide, but I think this one is going to send them mainstream all the way. My favorite part of the song is the last few bars, when the music is stripped, the emotions... | 09-04-2006 21:40 DamnLoser90 | 492 posts

i like it. its really good. i had a prose poetry debate event to go to, and i used this song as one of my poems. its really good. i like the part that says, probli wouldnt if i could. cuz dat happened to me. i screwed up really bad nd lost my "best friend" nd they spread rumors about me, so i realize that not being their friend is the best thing that could have ever happened to me. i wouldnt fix my mistake in a million years. | 05-05-2006 00:24 m3g0 | 28 posts

Well, I do have to say one thing. I didn't like the Dixie Chicks before. Don't like them now. This song is great. I mean I can see where they said something one such a wide scale that it would aggravate the populace and there'd be a major backlash. Its their own fault. People in America can voice their opinions, but when one group of people have a more wide spread voice than others that aloen sparks controversy. Anyway its a great song, its good that they are coming back out. I like the new sound and I do like the country/rock style to it. This is one of the few polically based songs I do like. | 14-05-2006 19:54 sarah_2204 | 3,596 posts

i really wasnt expecting this from these guys. well, actually, to be fair, i dont know much of their stuff, and the only thing i know about them is sitll the line from i heart huckabees,
"i am sitting in a tree with the dixie chicks, adn they are making me feel better..." during medtation.
but yeah, i suppose, maybe because im not american, but i never even knew they supposedly caught shit for saying somethig anti-bush, but i really like the lyrics to this. and the video clip is pretty funky too, all the stylised black and white and stuff.
yes, point is, i liked it.
though i agree, i really could do without the country, but i suppose they would be going against who they are. or at least, who i thought they were meant to be... | 26-05-2006 19:50 020792 | 23 posts

You know, a lot of people dont like the dixie chicks cuz of what they said in 03, and whenever the radio would play them it was always a big deal cuz if you dont own DC cd;s then u dont hear them often. Well, i heard this song on their website like right as they came out with it and i thought that it was awesome.
To many people now really hate the dixie chicks because of what they said and i think that is too bad because they are a really good band!!!

I work at Starbucks and we have their new CD on our playlist but not this song...probably because of the controversy it sparks. Anyways, I bought their CD cause it sounded pretty good from what I had heard and I have to say this song is one of the best on the album. I wish we had it at work!
I love that they are continuing to stick up for themselves, speaking their minds, without talking down to the other side. | 07-06-2006 22:48 cairowinters |

The first time i heard this song i feel in love with it. i have an ex boyfriend that is a dick to me. and i have never been able to forgive him for everything he has put me thru. However, i do have a new boyfriend whom i love very much. me and him have a a few run ins with my ex and he has treated me like shit infront of my new boyfriend. this song makes me feel like its okay not to forgive him until the time is right. because i am certainly not ready to make nice just yet! | 09-06-2006 18:13 vandy |

| I've got to hear this song. I haven't yet.
Back in 2003, I at least somewhat liked Bush, and I STILL thought it was stupid, all the contraversy surrounding what they said. For heaven's sake, our country was founded on things like free speech and being able to criticize the government! It is their RIGHT to say that, and I suppose it's radio stations' rights to censor them, but I just feel like it implies that it wasn't ok for them to state their opinion.
Someone in U.S. America not being able to state their opinion=sickening. Free speech is one of the great things about the U.S. | 23-06-2006 03:36 thirteenstarsnr | 4 posts

"It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger" = AGREED. It's great that we can live on based what we're taught, but that's REALLY lame when you can teach somebody to hate another person for speaking their minds. That's what writers do ALL THE TIME and they never get shit for it? At least the Dixie Chicks know how to take constructive criticism and it's not like they said it out of stupidity or not knowing the consquences of saying what they said.
"And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over" = Umm.. that's extremely idiotic to write a letter to them saying that because yeah, there are going to be people that don't like you, but isn't that a threat? Like, come on, just because we disagree, no need to go psycho and send a letter to them over something stupid.
Overall, I think some people just need to grow up. I love the Dixie Chicks for thinking ahead and knowing what was going to happen in the future... which means half of America already disliking Bush. I support the Dixie Chicks 100% and if somebody doesn't like the Dixie Chicks, you're obviously not looking on both sides of the story. They said this 3 years ago and now what do people think about President Bush?
