She was nicknamed "The Disco Queen". At 63 years old, Donna Summer died today (May 17) after having fought cancer.

Music world is mourning. According to the site TMZ, Donna Summer died of cancer. The American singer was 63 years old. According to the American site, the artist did her best not to reveal her illness & was working on a new album.

Donna Summer has been a 70's & 80's star. After having been a backing vocalist, she met 2 producers, Pete Bellotte & Giorgio Moroder. Working for other artists together, she gave him an idea. The song was a demo at the time : "Love To Love You Baby". Moroder convinced her to record the song & she got a worldwide hit.

Her following hits have been "Last Dance" & "I Feel Love", still among the most known disco songs & "Hot Stuff", used in the film "Full Monty" in 1997. The singer has been less successful in the 90's & 2000's but her songs were still popular in clubs, even in the United States. 2 years ago, her last hit in charts has been "To Paris With Love".
