this is indeed amazing just like most of dt songs, i think this song talks about a person who finds his wife cheating on him so he kills her and kills the guy she cheated with, puts them in the car trunk, drives away and then an accident happens and he dies or something like that.

Ok I'll resume you the story since you don't seem to understand it quite well =P
The whole story is about passion crime, reincarnation and lies.
The story of Nicholas, living in the present, who finds out by an hypnotherapist that he is in fact the reincarnation of Victoria. He learns that this girl was murdered in 1928. He starts an investigation to finally know the true story. (All this happens before or during "Beyond this life"
Julian (the Sleeper) is going out with Victoria. But he falls into sin (not mentionned what kind of, probably gambbling or alchool) and she leaves him crying. So she goes at Edward house (called the Miracle) who is the brother of Julian and they have an adventure... you know what kind of. (This is talked about in "Home")
But she has remorses, so she sleeps with him "One last time".
Then "The spirit carries on", talks about Nicholas finally understand *almost* everything, because there are still things he doesn't know.
NOW ! "Finally free" makes it all clearer. First, notice the hypnotherapist talking and his last sentence. "Open your eyes, Nicholas".
Ok, now with the song. It talks about the whole story, what really happened. I personnaly cried when Victoria and Julian died with the "One last time"...  . Please notice the "Open your eyes, Victoria"
And finally, the final punch ! Nicholas gets home, takes a drink, puts on music and sits in his rocking chair. Then you hear footsteps and "Open your eyes, Nicholas". Sooo what do we conclude ? The Hypnotherapist is the reincarnation of the Miracle and the static sound at then end means Nicholas was killed.
