Song lyrics
He's just the kind of man
You hear about
Who leaves his family for
An easy out
They never saw the signs
He never said a word
He couldn't take another day

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

She's not the kind of girl
You hear about
She'll never want another
She'll never be without
She'll give you all the signs
She'll tell you everything
Then turn around and walk away

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
(Into the waves)
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
(Once the stone)
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
(Into the waves)
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
(The sound you'll hear)
Once the stone
(the crashing)
You're crawling under
(down of hollow years)
Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
(The sound you'll hear, the crashing down of hollow years)

If you didn't know Dream Theater could write a slower song, i'll give you some advice that i'd give to anyone...listen to them more. Yet again another amazing song by Dream Theater, the part where James Labrie sings "Once the Stone Your Crawling Under..." is by far my favorite part of the song, it just has so much meaning to it. For those of you who weren't sure what this song is about i'm pretty sure it's about perserverance through hard times.

this was probably the first song by DT that I ever heard and it got me hooked right away..as previous writers said, if you didn´t know DT could play such a calm , beautiful song you have heard far too little of them,, their ballads are half the thing which make them amazing, the other thing is of course their real progressive metal songs which can convert any boring pop-music listener to a real metal groupie.. btw listen to the version of this song on the live at budokan consert DVD ..just to make something perfect even better
