Duffy's Deluxe Edition Includes 7 New Songs

Duffy has made an impact on radio this year with her soulful voice based on a sixties style. Being compared to Amy Winehouse, she has indeed took America and the rest of the world by storm with her hit album Rockferry. The album is now planned for a deluxe edition release around the world, beginning on November 21th in Europe. On that album, she will include her standard 10 songs plus an additional 7.

Duffy stayed atop the U.K. charts when her album was released, selling 180,000 copies in its first week, 60,000 in its first day. This made it the fastest selling debut album ever. In the U.S., the record debuted at No. 4 after selling 74,000 copies. In the U.S., she has sold over 560,000 copies and more than 3 million worldwide. This is partly because her hit single "Mercy" saw extensive positive reception due to its sassy lyrics about sexual liberty and not doing what someone else wants you to do, not to mention the cool soul arrangement that was catchier than ever.

Duffy gained massive exposure in the U.S. thanks to Vh1's music program called "You Oughta Know," a setup to promote singer-songwriters, such as James Blunt and Sara Bareilles. Her video for "Mercy" became a frequently played video and now is seeing her video "Stepping Stone" make its rotation.

Included on the new deluxe edition of Rockferry are 7 new songs. Of those new songs, 2 of them she performed on tour to test them out. "Rain On Your Parade" is a disco like song with a glimpse of the sixties meeting it. Her crackling vocals captivate the listener against the uptempo beat. "I'm gonna rain on your parade/ No I won't take it again/ And I'll keep raining over you... I pity the fools who babied you/ Cuz I know someday they'll see your colors too," she sings with a confidence that says she's serious about what she's saying. Behind the main melody are strings that give it a haunting melody.
