 10,981 posts | rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal this... is just about as perfect as music gets. Elbow are by far my favourite band but this is beyond even their high standards. Guy's vocals are perfect here, and tell a story that shifts effortlessly between reality, fantasy and metaphor blurring the line between them. one of those songs where they take a small and seedy story and turn it into something magnificent and beautiful. the open end is only fitting, an expression of a commitment that doesn't end. even though in this case maybe it never began. permanently one of my very favourite songs. it's special to me. |
